I am involved in the Miss Elegance of The World pageant this year as a finalist. Last year, I had my first pageant experience taking part in Miss England, which resulted in me being shortlisted as one of the Top 3 for Miss Lancashire, ultimately making me a Miss England semi-finalist. My early teenage dream of taking part in pageants stemmed from watching the show Insatiable. As anyone would, I admired the glitz and glamour of pageant lifestyles and events. However, due to study commitments, I simply thought of it as all but a dream. A few years into university, I decided to take the leap and apply for my first pageant. After the achievements and successes that resulted from Miss England, I decided I would love to go through the experience again this year, with a different pageant. As much as the glitz and glamour aspects are appealing, I enjoy pageants more because of the things you learn not only about yourself, but further about communication skills, leadership, interviews and poise. Furthermore, I thoroughly enjoy volunteering and helping out wherever I can, especially among young children. Throughout my years in sixth form, I helped Year 7 and 8 students on a weekly basis during their Food Technology classes. As well as this, I had numerous occasions of volunteering at an Open Evening for Year 6 students and families, and an Experience Day for forthcoming Year 7 students to experience a day of secondary school. My hobbies also include aviation, hence my choice of degree. I have always been fascinated with aircraft since childhood and an Aeronautical Engineering degree was a definitive choice for myself. Having been one of only 15 girls as part of the Gifted and Talented group academically throughout my five years at secondary school, learning and studying to extend my grasp of the world has always been a favourite pastime. Additionally, I highly enjoy reading books as often as I can, namely psychological thrillers. More of my interests include playing and watching sports, specifically football and Formula 1. My love for sports originated from being on the girls’ football and netball team during my Primary School years in London.
