Ata Ghavidel (1988, Ahvaz) is an Iranian composer, guitarist, and graduate student in Music Composition at the University of Calgary. Ata started music by taking guitar lessons as a child. Later, he learned Iranian music from Amir Hasan Amin Sharifi and the fundamentals of composition from the renowned Iranian composer Karen Keyhani. He studied at the University of Applied Science and the Music Conservatory of Tehran at the same time and graduated as a distinguished student in both. He has been selected in many composition competitions and festivals, and he has collaborated with performers around the world. Ata has also taken private lessons with some noteworthy composers such as Reza Vali, Ken Ueno, and Nader Mashayekhi and participated in masterclasses by Chaya Czernowin, Don Freund, Katharina Rosenberger, Alessandro Solbiati, Jacob Rataj.
