Hi, My name is Christopher Michael and I'm a 43yo German video producer living in Lisbon. I'm also the filmmaker behind CAMCAT-Portugal and the founder of the ACC - Active Cinematographers Club, which is likewise Lisbon-based. As the Chief Camera Operator at CAMCAT (predominantly a one-man band), I spend most of my time in helicopters, shooting dangerous stunt scenes while getting ready to jump out with nothing but a parashoot. (Just kidding, I actually don't really, but it would be cool one day, wouldn't it?). Right after turning into a teen I started shooting my first pics on film with a mirror reflex. This was when the first lens addiction phase kicked in. After finishing high school I moved to Berlin-Kreuzberg (where I stayed for 1.5 decades in total) and studied Innovations Management at Humboldt University but was always keen to break into the exciting world of filming, so I got involved in a number of ventures before finalising my plans for CAMCAT.pt (still just a one-man show). Since then I've been shooting all formats from live concerts through commercials, music videos, short films and even one documentary, all of which I very much enjoyed and continue to enjoy (a freaking lot). When not wearing my chief executive chaos producer hat (purely metaphorically speaking) I enjoy live music and harbouring unrealistic expectations for my future as a surfer. PS: Editor's note: At the time of writing this article CAMCAT was still at the stage of being a one-man show. But depending on its clients' budgets it can sometimes afford an assistant, which is a) freaking awesome and b) an insane help for the quality increase of their project.

Hi,

My name is Christopher Michael and I’m a 43yo German video producer living in Lisbon. I’m also the filmmaker behind CAMCAT-Portugal and the founder of the ACC - Active Cinematographers Club, which is likewise Lisbon-based.
As the Chief Camera Operator at CAMCAT (predominantly a one-man band), I spend most of my time in helicopters, shooting dangerous stunt scenes while getting ready to jump out with nothing but a parashoot. (Just kidding, I actually don’t really, but it would be cool one day, wouldn’t it?).

uniE608 Princess Jennifer in her palace
shooting in this beautiful palace, the focus was to present the traditional Chinese dresses, which were particularly designed for this shoot, in a very special light and angle. The client asked me to create a video that looks like film I got very excited, as I love cinematography and took my job as the dop very seriously, trying to live up to the expectations in each and every shot.
uniE608 Sea Moss Chocolate Snack - Commercial
This shoot was carried out in Almada / Portugal. After planning the locations and lighting conditions, I was able to pull the shoot off in only one day. Part of the plannning process was both a dynamic camera with lots of movement, but also energetic videoediting. To spice it up even further I decided to play with speed ramps and to add some crispy sounddesign. Last but not least: of course a calltoaction which has been slightly animated in terms of packaging and text.
uniE608 ETHMilan - Dynamically edited event aftermovie for Creatives DAO in Milan
Proudly sharing this high-paced video from an even in Milan in October 2023. My choices as the videoeditor were to make the video (given that the nature of conferences is usually quite boring) interesting to watch and most of all engaging. You will quickly notice that the editing is going hand in hand with both the music and with the added sounddesign. I would describe this process as a fully complete version of videoediting.
