I'm an award-winning graphic designer and illustrator who loves to solve problems in a creative and aesthetically pleasing manner. After graduating in 2005 from Edinburgh College of Art with an Honours Degree in Graphic Design, I began my creative career as a graphic designer for a branding and packaging agency in Edinburgh. During my time there I started my illustration business, designing and producing wildlife-inspired artworks that are licensed out to multiple manufacturers. Leaving my full-time job in August 2014 to focus on illustrating and freelancing, my designs appear on products that are sold in over 250 UK stockists including Waterstones, Dobbies and Ocado. Exporting to the US, Canada, Australia, Europe and Japan my products are also sold online on the company website (_Website not available. Sign in: https://www.twine.net/signup_) and other popular online shopping platforms such as Amazon and Etsy. --- EXPERIENCE --- Position: Senior Designer Employer: Threebrand Dates: 2006 - 2014 Responsibilities: Clients with whom I worked closely during my time at Threebrand include Border Biscuits, Craft Scotland, Dean’s, Diageo (Baileys, Ciroc, Johnnie Walker, and Smirnoff), East Kilbride Shopping Centre, Graham’s Family Dairy, Heineken (Caledonian Brewery), Historic Scotland, Nairn’s and The Beatles Story. The diversity of clients gave me lots of opportunities to design work for outdoor/indoor exhibition displays, websites, packaging, advertising (online and offline), branding, stationery, catalogues and literature. Position: Freelance Designer and Illustrator Employer: Self-Employed Dates: 2012 - Current Responsibilities: Designing wildlife-inspired illustrations for my licensees who go on to manufacture my designs into products that they wholesale to shops. Stockists include Waterstones TK Maxx, RSPB and BBC Worldwide. As a freelance graphic designer, I have produced packaging designs for Sainsbury's, Walkers and Dean’s Shortbread. I also have been responsible for creating logos and design work for Netball Scotland as well as for smaller, lesser-known, local businesses. --- SKILLS --- I am an excellent illustrator and pattern-maker and I have a wealth of experience with all the latest design software; including ProCreate, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign, Canva and CapCut. I am also competent with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I have an excellent understanding of Xero, Mailchimp and warehousing inventory management programmes such as Mintsoft, Unleashed and CraftyBase. With each job I take on, I am involved from start to finish; taking briefs from clients, drawing up budget proposals and costings, developing and presenting the design concepts, supplying design solutions and overseeing artwork and any print/technical aspects of the job. I’ve always enjoyed being part of a team and thrive working this way however, I work equally well on my own, relying on my intuition and imagination to overcome any problems I may encounter.

uniE621 White Feather: Spirit of Lennon
This brochure was for an exhibition telling the emotional and intimate personal story of the life of the Lennon family; John himself, Cynthia (his first wife) and Julian (John's eldest son) As the exhibition was a personal portrayal of their short time together as a family, I wanted to reflect this so the brochure is done in the style of a family album, almost diary-like. The brochure received a commendation for Best Piece of Promotional Literature at the Scottish Design Awards in 2010.
uniE621 Illustrative Packaging for Dean's Shortbread
Dean's Shortbread wanted me to create 3 pack designs featuring Jock, a fictional Scottish Terrier in 3 of Scotland's most iconic locations, Glenfinnan Viaduct, Edinburgh Castle and Eileen Donan Castle. Each of the packs features my hand-drawn illustrations. I was also responsible for applying the illustrations to the carton artwork and getting the files print-ready. illustrator designer graphicdesigner packagingdesigner
