Mobile VR - Virtual Store & Configurator- Laminate Brand

A virtual showrooms developed to operate with smartphones & low end VR headset. As much as we would like to believe Mobile VR is dead, it has its uses. Its a low cost entry point for new entrants who would shy away from an investment on a high end VR system like HTC or Oculus. Its a low cost entry point for new entrants who would shy away from an investment on a high end VR system like HTC or Oculus. Not everyone needs a high end device & with this project we want to resolve some of the limitations of virtual reality for smartphones. Here development is not the main challenge. This iteration has only 20 laminate panel designs, but like we all know an actual store can have hundreds or thousands of designs. I will continue to share my learning's as we develop this project further. For those who think what purpose does this app solves , that detail I will cover in an article in couple of days. Let me give you a hint, on my work table i have a high quality A3 size printed folder with actual pieces of laminates which weighs 4 kgs. Problem Statement 1- The cloth meshes are created as per a reference avatar i.e. they fit perfectly for a specific mesh, which is here on referred to as 'Reference Avatar' or RA. 2- As the clothes are modeled to fit the RA , so it wont fit a new avatar ( Refereed to as 'Target Avatar' or TA) which is…Problem Statement 1- The cloth meshes are created as per a reference avatar i.e. they fit perfectly for a specific mesh, which is here on referred to as 'Reference Avatar' or RA. 2- As the clothes are modeled to fit the RA , so it wont fit a new avatar ( Refereed to as 'Target Avatar' or TA) which is different to the RA. 3-The aim is to fit the 3d clothes mesh to any target avatar(TA) that is loaded into the system. Proposed Solution: 1- To analyze the correlation of the cloth mesh with the RA, and apply the found relation on the cloth mesh; as per the new TA. 2- The correlation refers to the, relative position (distance) of vertices of the cloth mesh; from the surface of the RA. 3- The solution is to find the distance(X) between the vertices of cloth mesh, and the surface of the RA; and then modify the position of the vertices of the cloth mesh, so that the distance between the cloth mesh vertices and the surface of the TA is same as that of (X).
