I'm a designer from Jamaica I am passionate about helping brands convey their unique voice through visual storytelling. During my 4+ years as a graphic designer, I've done this for small to large companies through brochures, flyers, logos, business cards, signage, and social media design. First, in my experience as an in-house designer for a government agency focusing on scientific research for national development, and more recently as a freelance designer supporting smaller brands build their identity from the ground up. I specialize in layout and brand identity design, but I also enjoy working on a diverse range of digital and print projects. Particularly those that may have personal meaning for my clients. My design philosophy is 'maximal impact through bold minimalism'. I work with clients to determine the best ways to leverage typography, contrast, color theory and visual hierarchy to capture their stories meaningfully. The creative process is grounded in research into the person or business and the space they occupy to deliver work that is distinctive. If my skills and values align with your needs, I would love to hear from you. I look forward to partnering with you on your project! --- **Employment and project experience** **Graphic Designer** Scientific Research Council _July 2018 - December 2021_ **Co- Designer** Jamaica Railway Corporation "Back on Track" Campaign _June 2021 - November 2021_

    uniE621 Logo Design: Shiloah's Beehive
Shiloah's Beehive is a start-up honey brand dedicated to helping rural women in Jamaica through a holistic apiculture approach that enhances local crops and the economies of the communities they serve. As a small company, they were focused on designing a simple mark for their packaging that would differentiate them from established brands in the local market. Their existing brand mark, created by another designer, was illegible on the clear plastic honey bottles. I designed a mark to be used in full black or white on their bottles and plain white boxes. Additionally, it is a distinctive badge that evokes Shiloah's ethos through the illustration of a young bee under the nurture of the queen bee. Lastly, I added colour using gold and brown for digital applications of the logo. logo graphicdesigner branding illustrator designer

uniE621 Jamaica Railway Corporation (Logo + Social Media Design)
The Jamaica Railway Corporation (JRC): The main project goals were to generate awareness and interest about the reintroduction of the train system on the island, with specific regard to secondary school students in Linstead, Bog Walk and Old Harbour, through a three-month social media campaign. Through collaboration with a fellow designer, Howard 'Elite Howie' Hamilton, and copywriters from The Write Step JA, we refreshed the brand with a logo redesign. Next, we designed a mark for the 'Back on Track' campaign to complement the brand, a process that saw the iteration of several concepts between Howard and me. A committee headed by the Minister of Transport and Mining, Robert Montague, selected one of the type lockups I created. We married our best ideas with Howard's logo design and my 'Back on Track' concept for a cohesive look and feel for social media posts. The primary design challenge was balancing modernity and tradition - the great legacy of the railway system in Jamaica and its utility today. This was achieved through three content categories, historical facts, information-based posts and social engagement with students and their guardians. graphicdesigner logo illustrator typography socialmedia photoshop
    uniE621 Scientific Research Council (Prospectus)
The Scientific Research Council sought to refresh its public presence with the development of a prospectus. In determining the look and feel for this project, I wanted to create something accessible to an audience that includes scientists, business owners and stakeholders, and anyone with a passing interest in science and technology. With that in mind, I designed this prospectus with less a feel of a business proposal, and more like a booklet, someone would want to pick up and look through in a lobby. I viewed the document as weaving together a story—a sweeping tale of the organization's contribution to national development. From biotechnology and product research to the popularization of sci-tech education across the island, the SRC delivers a wide array of services with a singular, guiding vision. I sought to represent this using collage, full- and half-page photo spreads, and an analogous colour scheme to evoke harmony. graphicdesigner designer publicationdesign

    uniE621 Dee's Kreations JM
Dee's Kreations JM is a Jamaican handmade business specialising in handcrafted journals, bookmarks and notepads. The 'Dee' in question is Miss Dorreth McKnight, affectionately called Dee or Aunt Dee by friends and family, a former librarian with particular interest and training in dressmaking; she is supported by a team of two, including her social media manager and me. Dee's Kreations' mission is to be a force for good - to encourage people through positive/uplifting affirmations. The outfit started during the COVID19 pandemic, as she sought to flex her artistic muscles with a new creative venture. What began as a hobby soon took on new life as she sought to provide light during a dark time. I created a mark to evoke the same organic yet elegant feel of the 'Kreations' she gives. I explored various logo ideas through brainstorming and sketches, which you can walk through below. The final lockup pairs a one-line drawing journal icon with a sans-serif and handwritten font. branding logo illustrator designer logo branding graphicdesigner
