Deniz Tafaghodi (b. 1997) is a Toronto-based sound artist, composer, pianist, and founder of Zerone Duo, recognized for her innovative approach to electro-acoustic and audiovisual arts. Beginning her musical journey at the age of six with classical piano, she later earned a degree in Music (Piano Performance) from the Art & Architecture University of Tehran. Deniz’s work spans electroacoustic, contemporary, interdisciplinary, and conceptual projects, each designed to explore and push the boundaries of sound and artistic expression.
Her performances have reached audiences in Berlin, Toronto, and Tehran, with showcases at festivals across Seattle, Berlin, and Iraq. Deniz’s projects have been featured at internationally respected events, including CTM Festival in Berlin, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Suoni Per Il Popolo in Montreal, Behaviours Concert Series in Toronto, and Space21 Festival in Kurdistan,
Iraq. She is also a member of the Iranian Female Composers Association (IFCA). Across these platforms, her work encompasses sound installations, theater and film sound design, and live performances, creating immersive sensory experiences that engage audiences on multiple levels.
In 2024, her album, Radif of Iranian Music – Gereh-Chini, was released in Berlin, reimagining the traditional Radif through electro-acoustic composition. She also curates the Chaparkhooneh series, a multidisciplinary platform dedicated to fostering connections with audiences through the unique voices of creators from around the world.
