Born and raised out of (Bushwick) Brooklyn, Andre “Dre Rox” Roxbury (AKA DRE ROX) began his passion for music at the age of 7. His father was a DJ in the 80’s and Dre Rox’s love for music was deeply influenced by that. Surrounded by music while growing up, producer/keyboardist Dre Rox decided early on that if he had to get a job, it would be doing what he loved to do.
During his childhood years with his Casio keyboard on hand he was able to hear any song and play it by ear. He took piano lessons to enhance his skills and was in his high school band where he played keys along with his producer partner “Con-Ed”, who played the drums. During Dre Rox’s years in high school he began producing using the Yamaha SY-85.
By the time he entered college, Dre Rox had been successful in creating his own distinct sound. He attended Five Towns College where he majored BPS in Audio Recording/Business Management. Dre Rox’s production influences come from: Timbaland, Neptunes, Just Blaze, Trackmasters, Jermaine Dupri and Babyface.
Dre Rox infuses a remarkable sense of individuality and creativity into his productions. When you hear a Dre Rox production there is no mistaking it for anyone else’s: signature dramatic chords from synth stabs, big drums and crazy percussion sounds is what makes his work so unique.
Dre Rox produced in the past with the Korg Triton/MPC 1000/Reason/Pro Tools. As for now, he compacted his setup to Logic Pro and Maschine MK2. He can produce any genre/style of music. His clientele consist of mainly hip-hop and pop influenced artist. He is also notorious for custom track production to fit anyone’s needs. Clients just simply provide him with an idea, melody, etc. and he will make something from scratch.
He provides artists/producers with original Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, Reggae & Reggaeton tracks. If they are in need of recorded albums, promotional mixtapes, websites or commercials, etc, then Dre Rox is your best option for an exceptional quality sound. Dre Rox produces some of the tightest tracks on the Internet, where quality work is scarce. Dre Rox entered beat battles to showcase his skills with other upcoming producers. He won the IPA-Beat Battle Contest in September 2006 in which he was recognized and awarded a plaque for his talent. In November 2007 he won the NYC iStandard Producer’s showcase. Dre Rox was also a nominee for “Best Emerging Producer of the Year” at the Underground Music Awards in August 2008. The social media has been another venue that has created a lot of exposure for Dre Rox. He plans to engrave his unique mark in the music industry. In May 2007 Roxbury Entertainment Corp., Dre Rox’s official business was established.
