As a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and composer, 27 year old Dylan Howe has established himself in the world of music from an early age. With his performing career starting on Mandolin, Fiddle and Clarinet from the age of 7, he has gone on to play tours around Canada, US, UK, Germany, France and Ireland. From his early teachings in Irish Traditional music, he has gone on to study jazz and classical music and share the stage with internationally renowned artists such as Badly Drawn Boy, Da∂i Freyr, The Frank & Walters, Ariel Posen, Adam Neely, and many more. He has studied Piano, Clarinet, and Saxophone, but is self taught in Mandolin, Trumpet, Cello, Guitar, and Flute. Dylan has received songwriting awards from Gael-Linn’s Scléip, Bank of Ireland and is now after receiving the Colin Vearncombe Songwriting Award in 2018. His multi-instrumental abilities have been hired by artists such as Toucan, The Frank & Walters, The Stunning, Clare Sands, Bricknasty, LYRA, Brian Deady, Khakikid, 1000 Beasts, Tiz McNamara, Jack O’Rourke, and many more. As a composer and arranger, he has been commissioned a number of times to write scores for various productions. At the age of 18, he was commissioned to write the music for UCC’s 2015 production of Hedda Gabler. In 2018, Cork actor/ writer Jessica Leen also commissioned him to write the music for her play ‘Two Of Clubs’. In 2019 he was commissioned to arrange a Sharon Shannon & Justin Adams tune called ‘Sacred Earth’ for the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, which was performed during their shows in Ireland and is still performed by the orchestra today in Milwaukee. He has also written the string and brass arrangements for the 2018 Rowan EP Asleep In The Rain, 2019 Milky Teeth album ‘Holy Shindig’, Rowan’s ’No One Is Safe Here’ EP, and Dark Tropics ‘Ink’ album. He performed the brass and keys parts on these albums also. The second single from the Dark Tropics album was featured on music titan Billboard’s ’10 Cool New Pop Songs To Get You Through The Week’, describing the string writing as ‘Cinematic, bold, gorgeous, but above all, memorable’. His own style lies primarily in Indie, Folk and Jazz music, occasionally skimming the surface of Irish Traditional music. Dylan is also the frontman of Irish Indie band Rowan, who have gained international success in recent years after signing a record deal with LA label Beverly Martel. Their debut album reached #3 in the Irish indie charts, behind Fontaines D.C and ahead of the Arctic Monkeys in 2022, with singles entering the top 10 alternative charts in the US. They have gained critical acclaim from the likes of Steve Lemacq on BBC, John Kennedy on Radio X, Ed Smith on Today FM and many others. The band are currently working on new material and gearing towards a busy 2023.
