My name is Ethan Edelman and I am one of the Associate Directors of Video Production for the University of Pittsburgh's athletic department. I have been working as a video producer, shooter, and editor for Pitt sports in a full time role for over a year now, and years before that in a similar role as a student. Basically, I help to create all of the content which makes its way to Pitt social platforms and in-venue scoreboards. Around the studio, my superiors began to notice my skills and knowledge. Just this past year, they offered me the opportunity to perform color commentary on Live ESPN broadcasts of Pitt soccer games, as well as work directly with the women’s team to document their historic 2023 season. I traveled with head coach Randy Waldrum and the team as they made their way to the NCAA Elite 8 for the first time, learning as much as I could about the sport and how it is played at the highest level along the way. At the same time, I was recording and editing content for Pitt’s social channels, giving an up close and cinematic look at the team’s journey. Since starting at Pitt, I have gone from volunteering my time at Pitt Athletics events, to autonomously creating content for Pitt social platforms. Even though I have gained a good understanding of media from my studies and experience thus far, there is always more to learn.
