Eleanor is an actor, director, playwright, trainer, facilitator and coach. She has trained with the Suzuki Company of Toga (Japan), the SITI Company and the Fitzmaurice Institute (US), as well as young & W!LD (W!LD Rice, Singapore). Eleanor is a veteran educator with an MA in Arts Practice and Pedagogy. Since 1999, she has taught drama and communication skills in local and international schools, and facilitated and led communication and leadership training for Fortune 500 companies and Singaporean healthcare organisations. She currently works as a teaching artist in numerous local educational contexts, and is also a leadership and communications coach with Speak by Design (US), delivering training and coaching to clients worldwide. From 2020 to 2023, Eleanor served consecutive terms on the committee of the Actors' Society as Vice-Chairperson and Chairperson. Eleanor began her stage career as a performer in 2003 in children's theatre, acting in multiple productions by I Theatre in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and twice at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. She has gone on to perform in numerous plays and musicals by leading theatre companies such as The Necessary Stage, Teater Ekamatra, Toy Factory, Theatreworks, WILD Rice, and the Singapore Repertory Theatre. On television, Eleanor played recurring roles in Kin, Lion Mums, Tanglin, and Point of Entry, in addition to many featured roles in English and Mandarin dramas. She also landed a cameo in Studio Dragon's 2022 hit series, Little Women (South Korea). Eleanor’s opera directorial debut, Purgatory by L’arietta Productions, was hailed as “innovative, edgy and sophisticated”, and a sign that “Singaporean’s opera scene has come of age”. This was followed by Michael Ching's All Dressed Up, No Place to Go, an opera video series wholly funded by the National Arts Council and released during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Eleanor went on to direct Stella Kon's Peter & Pierre for Musical Theatre Limited, Michael Ching’s Speed Dating Tonight! for L'arietta Productions, Joey Contreras’ In Pieces for the 7/8 Collective as part of Sing Theatre's Musical Theatre Fringe Fest, and Joel Tan's People for Singapore Management University's StageIt. Eleanor's first full-length play, The Book of Mothers, was staged as part of Theatreworks’ N.O.W. Festival. She recently co-created Enough!, an interdisciplinary performance exploring the female experience. Her latest play, Baby Bird, was also presented at the Playwrights' Cove staged readings by The Necessary Stage.
