Industry Experience

Media & Entertainment, Education, Retail
uniE608 sc012 - from FutureLondon (for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park)
This short scene (seen in the full film, here - https://vimeo.com/316616348) features Tom Daley. The short film features (mercifully brief) animated depictions of several medal winning athletes. The film also features some words spoken by its narrators - incorporated into graphical depictions of street signs and scoreboards etc.
uniE608 A line-test from FutureLondon (2015) for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
The coloured, composited version of this line-test features in the 2 minute film (viewable on my 'Elroy Simmons Vimeo Page') on the Olympic Park; the excitement surrounding its use in the 2012 Olympic Games - and the Olympics' regenerative impact on that part of East London.
uniE608 Falcon (Hawk Screech) - featured in a Romford Shopping Centre
As with the Squirrel, I made this second animation - using Photoshop and AfterEffects. The animation was to be viewed using a downloadable app, via shoppers' smartphones. The animation loop was 'fixed' to the wall where the image sits - and moves 3-dimensionally, in relation to the viewer's vantage point of it.
uniE608 Squirrel - Public Art (displayed in a Romford Shopping Centre)
I worked on two of the nine animations, viewable via a smartphone app (appearing as if fixed - 'virtually' to the wall), dotted around the Shopping Centre site (the other being a Falcon). A noted spray can artist drew nine still images of various animals, birds and insects; The Colour Project (based in the London Bridge area) oversaw production of the animations - and the other seven animations were 3D CG.
uniE608 Anton on the Mountain - from "Mansfield 66/67"
In this second sequence from this live-action/animated documentary, Anton Lavey features. Lavey has been called on to help save Jayne Mansfield's son, following the lion attack featured in 'Jungleland'. The sequence - as the first, is based on real events. For the characters' design, I referred to cartoons from around the era - made by UPA (I liken Lavey to Mr Magoo - and Maynsfield's children refer to Gerald McBoing Boing, for examples) and Hanna Barbera (Mansfield is a mix of references to Penelope Pitstop and another 'Warner Bros.-esque' character featured in "A-Z". I worked with students I taught at Leeds Beckett University to make these films.
    uniE608 Jungleland - from "Mansfield 66/67" (Premiered 2017)
Directed by Todd Hughes and David Ebersole. Jungleland is the first of two cartoon sequences that illustrate Hollywood actress Jayne Mansfield's close/controversial association with Anton Lavey. In this sequence, Mansfield's son is attacked by a lion, in an animal park. This sequence and Anton on the Mountain are based on real events.
    uniE608 Tony and Angela
Short animated opera directed by Lyn Hagan in 2013. I drew the 2D Animation and the animation was composited by Jonathan Klahr, who was assisted by Paul Jay Nicholson. The film follows an inappropriate relationship between a prisoner (Tony) and a prison guard (Angela). Tony drew tattoo art that depicted Angela. Various tattoo designs by Tony were selected by the Director to be animated by me (using paper and pencils).
    uniE608 A-Z
A personal, relatively experimental, cartoon short - about 'difference' and 'diversity' - and in the form of a list. The words on the list prompt an associated word or term, or a tangential variation, or a complete opposite word or term - affording an illustration of the varied, differing viewpoints that are best tolerated or heard to build a worldview that isn't (hopefully) too narrow.
    uniE608 Elroy Simmons Showreel 2016 (2017)
This reel was, in the end, 'unveiled' in Autumn 2018. I worked for a year or so at an advertising agency, animating digital cat food adverts from early 2017 to early 2018, then completed animation for a feature length live-action/ animated documentary ("Doozy" - Director: Richard Squres LMFYFF) - which premiered in October 2018 at the London Film Festival (hence, my at last unveiling it). I animated, or designed/animated, or directed/designed everything here. I didn't direct the stuff from TV commercials.
