My name is Luke Gammer - I am a senior graphic designer from the UK.
Back in 2007, I started working for a print company, that combined graphic design and print finishing. I learnt many techniques in post-production including: keeping up to date with Pantone colour matching; knowing many kinds of paper manufacturers and large format materials; different methods of post-production methods; what limitations are involved between design and print; and how to overcome any issues in production.
I am fortunate to have been mentored by and collaborated with a former Saatchi and Saatchi advertising mad man who lived locally to me. He always came prepared to our sessions with notes and doodles, then we’d collaborate to put the ideas into graphic design for a range of items, such as exhibition materials, videos, websites and novels. He truly inspired me to create more and more with my print design knowledge.
I set a new goal to explore the creative field further by making myself known to creative agencies in the local area, as well as in London. In 2016, I had a freelance opportunity working at a creative agency specialising in the optometry sector - creating materials for major global brands. My main role was to create vinyl window artwork for stores nationwide. I was also involved in many 3D exhibition model renderings.
Afterwards, I took on a maternity cover role in Bury St Edmunds, working within a small team. The studio manager guided and supported me during my time at the company. I also worked their sister company, which specialises in promotional material for companies big and small. I set up embroidery files and was involved in the production process of items such as tshirt pressing, mug prints and dome badge creation.
After my contract ended, I started working for a small creative agency in London, an opportunity which gave me a huge boost in my confidence. My employer became a close friend and mentor. He has guided me throughout each creative process and gives me full autonomy on projects. During my time, I have gained substantial knowledge in the Real Estate, medical, educational and financial sectors. No day was the same, which always kept me on my toes.
As I look to build my freelance portfolio, I invite you to get in touch to see how my design services could be of help to you and your business.
