My objective is to offer the combination of my passions and skills in the realms of music, art, and language in a valuable, collaborative, and extraordinary manner. As a composer and poet, I am interested in the subjectivity of time, language of dreams, and how human empathy form the essence of our relationship with reality. With a background in guitar, jazz, and electronic music I am eager to use my experience, to learn, to grow further, and create in any setting.

    uniE613 Milieus (2023 - 2024)
Three performer-guided Max/MSP patches that use a combination of different instruments, samples, and specified random procedures to evoke nuances of not-quite-natural seeming spaces while developing common textural themes throughout. https://soundcloud.com/garrett-fry-438605754/sets/milieus?si=645d0733ba904a11a60ffafcc701332f&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing Two of the main motifs are: the samples of field-recorded bird songs, and the use of a delay line in which the time of delay is quickly changed between values, generating living chirp-like, “glitches” throughout.
    uniE613 6 Preludes for Piano (2020)
An exploration of aleatoric and extended piano techniques as ornamental and organizational processes meant to conjure images of a garden. https://soundcloud.com/garrett-fry-438605754/sets/six-preludes-for-piano-1?si=d9b0f60a9ff24f3a961da7acd6fa4f8f&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing They were workshopped and recorded in close collaboration with the recording pianist, and the implementation of their feedback on technical and notation matters helped to refine the material from a performer's standpoint
    uniE613 Earth (2019)
A commission for a specific group of 4 singers and organ intended for a memorial service and premiered in Suffield Connecticut, U.S. https://soundcloud.com/garrett-fry-438605754/earth?si=62018a07cda24aa198eb0fed2189718f&utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing I selected a Lorca poem, “Tierra” from the suite Conjunto des Espejos and set it in its English translation. The atypical technique of switching off the organ’s air supply mid-performance was utilized as well as special attention to the particular organ’s registration capabilities.
    uniE613 Suddenness (2018 - 2019)
A song cycle for voice, medium-sized mixed chamber orchestra and electronics which explores déjà vu, the boundary between dreams and nightmares, and death. https://www.twine.net/signin Each movement represents an overlapping moment of death, connected through different types of motifs whose transformations and deformations suggest different subjective passages of time. Key harmonic organizing elements are based from a hexachord transposed and manipulated depending on subjective color association. These recordings are the result of a month-long rehearsal and recording process and represent a studio-driven approach to capturing the essence of the pieces
