My name is Joe Lester. I'm a Los Angeles-based composer/producer/engineer. A bit more about me: I have over 20 years experience as a professional musician, composer, session and touring performer. I majored in Music Theory & Performance and minored in Jazz performance at UCSC in 2004. I'm an original and current member of the band Intronaut. I've also played with and toured the world with a diverse array of artists. As a composer and session performer, I've worked with artists such as Mestis, Secret Chiefs 3, Cloudkicker, Clipping and many others. As a studio engineer and a composer, I also work with a variety of hip hop artists and producers such as Kenoe Jordan and Hollywood Beats, who have credits with artists like Kanye, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj, NBA Youngboy, Nipsey Hussle, Roddy Ricch and others. I think that I work particularly well under direction and incorporating feedback into revisions. My hip hop clients adore my ability to replicate the general sound or feel of a reference track into a new composition with no licensing issues. As far as diversity of style goes, I think that my varied background in styles as diverse as jazz, heavy metal, rap, progressive rock and r&b gives me eclecticism and nuance as a composer. I am accustomed to working for clients remotely, when needed. At home I work with Logic Pro X, Apollo interfaces, Korg and Akai controllers, Output and Splice sample libraries, and more nice guitars and basses than I should list here.
