Katarzyna Wiktorski is a Polish-Australian contemporary composer, pianist, arranger, band leader, and producer. Having studied classical, jazz, and improvisation, her knowledge as a player and creator are unique. Sitting between chamber, modern jazz and film scores, Kat’s music explores light and dark landscapes, drawing from personal experiences to create an emotional, ornate listening journey. Her compositional approach always strives to create balance between complexity and simplicity with an overall arc of sentiment and storytelling. She has been a part of the music industry for fifteen years, working in live performance, media and recording projects.

Since independently releasing her albums Early Meditations and From a Distance, Kat’s music gained support from Melbourne community stations 3RRR and PBS FM and made waves internationally on radio shows by Bandcamp Weekly (US), Gilles Peterson on BBC6 (UK), Tsubaki FM (Japan), and Neo FM (Germany). Her album From a Distance was featured in The Guardian’s Best 10 Contemporary Albums by John Lewis. Her single Search for Stillness was awarded runner up of the 2020 Allan Zavod Perfomers’ Award. Since completing her jazz studies at the Melbourne Conservatorium, Kat has led multiple ensembles including an octet, chamber sextet, a quintet, and trio, featuring performances at the 2020 Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival and at the 2024 Melbourne International Jazz Festival.

Kat has collaborated with local artists and has been commissioned to produce new music for several projects, including the award winning psychedelic word game Gubbins by Studio Folly. Shortly after the game was released worldwide, the Gubbins soundtrack was featured in Pitchfork’s 2023 “Best Indie Video Game Scores” list, describing the music “as addictive as the game itself”. A special radio edit of the soundtrack was released in 2024. Kat has continued her journey as a games composer and is currently producing a large soundtrack for a romantic-horror visual novel called Drăculești by independent studio Fine Feathered Fiends.

Kat’s artistic mission is to create exceptional, meaningful work that fosters joy, love, and connection. She is deeply passionate about working with creatives that explore depth, nuance and complexity of the human condition through their work.

I have been part of this project since 2023, where I've composed and produced the music for the trailer and the entire game soundtrack which is currently still in production. This is a romantic-horror visual novel style game. Game description: Draculesti is a villain-focused reimagining of the classic novel Dracula that shines a light on the shadowy figures of Renfield, Dracula's Brides, and Dracula himself. Be enthralled by the residents of Castle Dracula, and thrill at a dark narrative with strong LGBTQI+ themes. I composed, arranged and produced the score for psychedelic word game Gubbins by indie game studio Studio Folly. I took care of every aspect of the music from it's inception to completion. I created demos, notated the final score, organised the recording session, studio, and musicians. The soundtrack was recorded at Rolling Stock Recording Studio in August 2021 and a special composer's edit was released in May 2024.
