Catfish- Poster
The term “Catfish” has a negative connotation to most people, whether it’s associated with someone who creates a false identity online to lure someone in or the swampy, bottoming feeding fish with whiskers. This series of illustrations seeks to challenge perceptions of beauty and grotesque, by combining the alluring depiction of ethereal women and flora from the Art Nouveau period, and the repulsion associated with the actual catfish and its environment. This particular blend of form and content also serves as a commentary on the colloquial use of the term “catfish”, often used to denigrate women who appear different in a candid moment from a posed and perfected photo.

One Night Only
“One Night Only” has a similar stacking figural composition to the Cults magazine cover but shifts the mood away from the dazed and eerie mood. The figures are more inviting but equally distant from
the audience. This mood is what inspired me to turn this illustration into an event poster.

Feathr- A Game to Connect People
One undeniable effect of social media sites, dating apps, and online gaming servers is connecting people who otherwise would have never interacted in person. I wanted to explore connecting two opposing personality types unlikely to connect socially in person, Morning Larks and Night Owls. Morning Larks are people who feel more energized early in the morning. Conversely, Night Owls are people who feel more energized late in the evening and often do not enthusiastically interact with Morning Larks during the day.
Feathr is a two-player, online mobile game that connects Morning Larks and Night Owls without requiring either of them to be active during their non-optimal time of day. The app only allows people to partner within a 10 to 14-hour time zone difference, connecting people on opposite sides of the globe at opposite times of the day. This way Morning Larks and Night Owls are partnered together by default. The interface design automatically changes from light to dark mode to be better adjusted for the ambient lighting of day or night.

Prattler Cover Art- Cult Edition
This is the cover of the Spring 2020 issue of The Prattler, the student lead magazine at Pratt Institute. The theme of that particular issue was “cults” so the figures are arranged in a way that
mimics haunting group photos of famous cults, adorned with matching chin-length hair cuts, praying hands, and lifeless eyes. However, each individual figure represented a trending current pop culture icon, playing with the contrasting ideas of individual expression within collective experience in contemporary culture.
The magazine cover was never printed due to the coronavirus outbreak, but the magazine was eventually published online exclusively.
