I'm a freelancer who specializes in video production, social media, and branded storytelling from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Telling fresh stories, valuing innovation, and having a keen eye for high-quality multimedia content are three qualities I possess that enable me to deliver top-level content for multiple audiences across several platforms effectively. Throughout my four years at the University of Missouri-Columbia, my time as the Mizzou Club Hockey Broadcast Manager has instilled the importance of leadership, the mentality of a “we” culture, and the importance of thinking strategically and creatively. For the last two years, I’ve continued to grow the Mizzou Club Hockey media department, a department I established myself. My path to a career in sports content creation and digital media unfolded during my senior year of high school. A media technology course allowed me to experiment with camera equipment, video production, and social media, three skills I used daily to effectively cover the stories of the Mizzou Club Hockey team. The class allowed me to combine my lifelong sports interest with effective communication through journalism. Within Mizzou Club Hockey, I’ve served predominantly as the broadcast manager, content creator, and social media assistant. During my time, I’ve improved the livestream numbers by 60 percent in one season and tripled the team's Instagram and Twitter followers by consistently producing compelling video content that inspired and united the fanbase that I conceptualized, captured, produced, edited, and distributed on the team’s digital platforms and website myself. Moreover, I worked closely with my personal department every week to brainstorm and meet tight deadlines on our production schedule while ensuring accurate coverage and making the fans our top priority. Through this experience, I’ve learned to thrive at problem-solving that comes with building something from the ground up, like having no budget to purchase quality broadcasting equipment and strategizing ways to retain the fanbase due to technical difficulties, like creating engaging hype videos, one on one player interviews, and producing evening skate coverage for the website that fulfilled the team’s digital strategy. During my time as Mizzou Club Hockey’s broadcast manager, I led a department of seven people, marking my inaugural experience in leadership. This role instilled the values of teamwork, accountability, and humility in me. Furthermore, my four-year tenure as a sports reporter at KOMU emphasized the importance of connecting with communities to properly tell their stories, develop connections in the community, and the need to develop effective time management skills to deliver content properly. While these past few years have undoubtedly honed my reporting skills by applying these essential lessons, they have equally enriched my ability to be a valued team member to provide high-quality content.
