uniE613 Normandy VR: Bringing History to Life
View the full case study at: https://www.twine.net/signin The Normandy VR project was created to deliver an immersive storytelling experience of D-Day through virtual reality, designed for the Oculus Quest 2. The goal was to transport users to one of history's most pivotal moments, allowing them to engage deeply with the stories of those who lived it. My process began with extensive research into the events of D-Day, including interviews and historical accounts, to ensure authenticity and emotional impact. I then designed an engaging VR environment that guided users through key moments of the event, balancing educational content with an intuitive and interactive user experience. By focusing on immersive design principles and storytelling, this project brought history to life in a way that resonates emotionally with users. It reinforced my skills in VR design and highlighted the potential of technology to create meaningful connections to history through innovative experiences.
uniE613 Arches Explorer: Enhancing National Park Adventures
View the full case study at: https://www.twine.net/signin Inspired by the beauty of Arches National Park, I designed a mobile app prototype to improve visitors' park experiences. The goal was to create a user-friendly, informative, and visually appealing app that would help users navigate the park, learn about its iconic landmarks, and plan their visit more effectively. Through extensive research, I analyzed user needs and compared existing national park apps to identify features like interactive maps, trail guides, and safety tips. Using this research, I developed intuitive wireframes and a vibrant, nature-inspired design aligned with the park's essence. The result was a clickable prototype that prioritized accessibility and ease of use, offering an enhanced way for visitors to connect with the park’s natural beauty. This project emphasized the importance of balancing functionality with an immersive design, creating a tool that both informs and inspires.
uniE613 Mom’s Cookbook: A Personalized Online Recipe Collection
View the full case study at: https://www.twine.net/signin This project began as a wedding gift idea: an online cookbook to house and share cherished family recipes. The goal was to create a user-friendly, editable, and responsive website that could be accessed on any device, whether in the kitchen or on the go. Through user research and design exploration, I crafted a prototype focused on intuitive navigation and a warm, inviting aesthetic to reflect the comfort of home cooking. I utilized WIX to ensure the client could easily manage and update recipes over time. Key features included organized recipe filtering and an editable structure, making it simple for the family to grow the collection as needed. This project taught me the importance of balancing usability with emotional design, as the end product needed to feel as personal and accessible as it was functional. It’s an ongoing collaboration that continues to evolve alongside the client’s needs.
uniE613 Hogle Zoo App Case Study: Enhancing Visitor Experiences Through Design
View the complete case study at https://www.twine.net/signin While planning a trip to Hogle Zoo, I realized there was no dedicated app to support visitors. Inspired, I set out to design a user-friendly prototype aimed at enhancing visitor experiences by providing essential navigation tools, event schedules, and interactive features. I began by researching the Hogle Zoo website and analyzing apps from other zoos, aquariums, and amusement parks to identify best practices. In-person visits to the zoo allowed me to observe visitor behaviors, signage reliance, and areas of confusion. These insights informed the app’s core features, like an interactive map, live updates, and animal information. Through iterative sketches, wireframes, and visual design in Figma, I created a prototype aligned with Hogle Zoo’s branding, using earthy tones and playful icons. User testing shaped its functionality, ensuring an intuitive and engaging design. Though the zoo postponed the project, this experience deepened my skills in crafting digital solutions for real-world interactions, underscoring the value of user-centered design
