HISTORY/BIOGRAPHY Martina Krassnigg, aka Miss Electric, born in Austria/Styria in 1982, is one of the rare female DJ/Producers making an impact on the underground techno scene. As far back as anyone can officially recollect, Miss Electric has always found a special and unique niche amongst the myriad of electronic sounds discovered in the early 90s under the generalized guise of oldschool-techno. Whenever the exact moment can be pinpointed or not, she has begun a lifelong synergetic relationship with such forms of sounds and music, often seemingly becoming one with the rhythmic and pulsing beats. Her unique and unmistakable style whether she explores deeper/darker more hypnotic techno or lighter house-flavored sounds can easily be recognized by her mastery of the mixing tables as well as blending in various elements from a wide variety of sources, creating a completely new audio musical experience every time. Miss Electric’s musical journey was kicked into motion in 2003 when she took to the turntables. This quickly led to a string of gigs at venues in Austria and Germany. The magic she is able to create while behind the mix tables seems to reflect her deep knowledge of electronic music and her pure, almost instinctual understanding of rhythm and melodies, crafting flawless soundscapes which help transport her listeners and her audience into ethereal and intangible spaces. She is able to take the best elements of all forms and variants of techno music and mix them together as if one stand-alone epic, eternal and timeless, breaking down the temporal boundaries associated with specific releases and artists. Those who have been exposed to her work, have often been impressed by her technique and her level of true mastery of what she has effectively turned into a genuine artform. But her skills are not limited to the mix decks, as her life-long love and appreciation for music has led her to deeply connect with its language which is also translated in her works as a remixer and a producer. Later, in 2006, Martina was also turning her hand to music production. She has since released tracks on many respected record labels, including ‘Minder Records’ (NL), ‘Home Records’ (AT), ‘Digital Phunk Records’ (Africa), ‘Dark & Sonorous Records’, ‘Circle Digital Records’, ‘Real Tribe Records’ (AT), ‘Subwoofer Records, Primate Recordings/Primevil Recordings and Different is Different Records, where she started to work as a Label Manager back in 2015. Martina’s influences go way back to the early 90s when she began to immerse herself deeply in electronic music. She was instantly attracted to the energy of the sounds and seemingly endless musical possibilities. She was also intrigued by its effect on people. This inspired her to create and perform her own music, communicating to people through abstract sounds, rather than the conventional use of words. The formidable style of Miss Electric reflects her deep knowledge and understanding of techno music, as well as many of its subgenres. She began studying audio engineering in 2014 to increase and expand upon her focus on sound quality, as well as launched her own label, Miss Electric Recordings (MER). Her new record label will only release top quality, cutting edge techno. The general electronic musical styles she excels at are deep and dark techno, underground and oldschool techno, ambient & dub techno. Her obsession for underground techno becomes even more apparent in her DJ sets. An energetic, fun-loving and instinctually intelligent young lady, her growing fan base and ever-expanding knowledge of the world of the electronic music scene will only make her become a more poignant and home-based name as her talents shall indeed make themselves known to the world who is willing to open up their hearts to her passion which she generously shares with us all.
