I used to be an art director in publishing in NYC and have hired illustrators myself, so am fully aware of the time frames/deadline and know that the client is always right.     I did hundreds of these line illustrations for a series of English textbooks published in UK. I was given different prompts to illustrate and had to come up with characters and several ideas for each prompt for the art director to chose from. All of these were hand drawn with pen&ink
