One of my early works, a photo story on Mogok Ruby mine workers, was featured at the 2017 Yangon Photo Festival, which encouraged me to dive deeper into visual storytelling. In 2020, I joined Yangon Film School to refine my craft, and that’s where I transitioned into documentary filmmaking. My first documentary, Hope Called Tomorrow, follows a former political prisoner from 1988 as he navigates his trauma—a story that found a place in international poetic film festivals. I’m especially drawn to stories about resilience and social issues. In Road to Hope, I spent time in the Karanie IDP camp in Moe Pyae, documenting the struggles and hopes of displaced communities. Right now, I’m working on a project about fisher families in the Ayeyarwady Delta, where my mother grew up. I also enjoy exploring diverse cultures and traditions through film. Some of my other works include: Pilikan – A glimpse into a century-old Hindu temple in Yangon. Bone Whispers – A touching portrayal of a traditional Karen Death Ceremony. Love Like Ours – A documentary following a Muslim couple’s life on a Buddhist-majority island in the Delta region. I love collaborating with people who are passionate about storytelling, whether it’s through film, photography, or creative projects.
