From the outset, Paul Anquez’ musical pathway has been an eclectic one, beginning with the Calais Conservatoire, where he studied classical piano, jazz, electro-acoustic music and voice. He then pursued his studies at the Musicology Department of the Sorbonne University and at the Paris Conservatoire. At the latter, he was selected for the European Jazz Master which he is currently finishing. During these two years, he spent semesters at the Rhythmic Music Conservatorium in Copenhagen and the Jazz institute Berlin. As a pianist, Paul regularly works with singers : his duos with Isabel Sörling, Virginie Capizzi, constitute recent examples. With his own ensembles he has won several national awards (Versailles Jazz Festival, Jazz in Vannes Competition, Trophées du Sunside) As an arranger, Paul writes for a variety of ensembles. First for the 13-member Osiris Ensemble he based, but also symphonic orchestras (Metropole orchestra, Florida Film orchestra), big bands (The big band, DK; CNSMDP's big band) and vocal ensembles (Ego System). Paul is also an accomplished choral conductor, and he works regularly with ensembles in the Paris region for whom he composes original arrangements. Paul teaches the piano and voice for 10 years and lead workshops since 2011. He has recorded 4 CDs : Rivers (2015) and Andetag (2012) with Isabel Sörling, Winter I with Virginie Capizzi and Things Change with OSIRIS (2011).
