I'm Robert Roach, an illustrator-storyteller who works digitally and manually. Regarding storyboards, concept designs and comic illustrating, I've been working professionally since the 90s. In fact, my indie comic project, "The Roach" (not about me), won the inaugural "Glyph Rising Star" Award as that year's best comic. I’ve worked as a storyboard artist for numerous live action and animated projects on the industry's "creative" side. Additionally, on the "managerial" side, I worked in Warner Brothers' management trainee program and as an instructor at Otis College of Art. I have also worked other non-artistic jobs, such as on the daily TV show “National Enquirer Uncovered” and as a Japanese-English translator at New York Film Academy.

    uniE613 Robert Roach's Portfolio Highlights
The samples being shared are from various projects. I am accomplished at executing many different creative ideas, in varying media and in varying genres. My work has supplemented syndicated cartoons, been published in mainstream and in independent comics, in children's books, as logos, art anthologies, etc. As my "Lion of Judah"-related artwork shows, I can illustrate photorealistically. The "Green Lantern" trailer artwork shows that I can create work that is purely sci-fi and fantastical--all in a digital format. So you can clearly see that I am able to--and enjoy--working on various stories and in various media. https://www.magnetic-press.com/black-comix-returns/ https://printedinblood.com/store.html!/Bernie-Wrightson-Artbook-A-Tribute-HC/p/460484646/category=22791107 https://www.instagram.com/gokiburiartist/?hl=en illustrator conanthebarbarian barbarian dungeonsanddragons swordandsorcery fantasyart comicbookart swordandsoul IthurielWarrior https://www.facebook.com/groups/721012615242384

    uniE613 The Roach: Dwight (WIP)
These initial 33 pages for my award winning pulp anti-hero, "The Roach," are 90% done. Only 63 more pages! The character's storyline in both unvarnished & not gratuitous. The seedy people who they are. This Prohibition-era slice of Chicago is what it is. Nonetheless, the narrative gives me a chance to ask some age-old questions. (And maybe to answer a few.) noir pulp detective prohibition

    uniE613 "Abattoir" Feature Film
Despite the project's heartbreaking aspects, this scene from "Abattoir" builds toward the climax. (A lot of these moments got condensed in the eventual film.) It was a good challenge to effectively move the action through the forest & to set up the penultimate conflict. illustrator storyboard https://www.twine.net/signin
    uniE613 "Abattoir" Feature Film
"Abattoir" was a bit of a heartbreaking project. The eventual film that got made wasn't as good as the original that the pre-production crew put together 3 years earlier. These 'boards are from the original script & are drawn specifically for the locations that had been contracted. Unfortunately, a producer couldn't put his/her ego out of the way so that production--5 days away--could commence. This was a pivotal moment in the script, when the heroine, Julia, has a dream that reveals the horror home's secrets. illustrator storyboard https://www.twine.net/signin
    uniE613 "Abattoir" Feature Film
More from "Abattoir." These 'boards are from Julia's first investigation of her sister's home--which is being disassembled for sinister reasons. She encounters more questions than answers. illustrator storyboard https://www.twine.net/signin
    uniE613 "Abattoir" Feature Film
"Abattoir's" transition from the fight in the woods to the eventual reveal--& how Julia's family fits into the wicked plans--was a fun challenge. Had these scenes been able to make it into the film that got made, perhaps it could've earned a few more stars. However, the creators are often at the "money people's" mercy. The industry is called "show business" for this reason. illustrator storyboard https://www.twine.net/signin
