I worked in the media from 1981 until 2016. During that time I worked as a director producer and scriptwriter mainly in the corporate sector where my Clients included Unilever, Shell, Fujitsu-ICL, The Co-operative Bank, The Department of Employment, and Elida Faberge. I also presented a series of short company profiles for BBC World. I have worked as lecturer in Media, Video & Film and photography at Universities in Manchester, Chester, Stafford and Liverpool. Alongside this I have also worked as a musician performing in a variety of genres from touring with US Pop band ‘Limmie and the Family Cookin’ in the late 70s to big band jazz and most recently performing my self penned contemporary blues. My songs have been described as ‘Blues for Radio 4’! Whilst living in Italy I performed at many major Blues Festivals from Verona in the North to Tropea and Sicily in the South. I speak Italian well. I would never say fluently but certainly good enough to hold a conversation about R.D.Laing’s ‘The Divided Self’ and hold my own in banter at the bar. The former I did once, the latter I have done frequently. I have made a monthly contribution to Dutch art publication Zout (formerly Zuiderlucht) since 2011. I have also illustrated a book of Dutch Poetry and was commissioned to create an edition for Matchboox an Amsterdam based publisher of miniature books. I have recently published ‘Eloquently Barking’ – a collection of anecdotes based on my journals which I have been keeping for over twenty years. One of my clients described me as ‘modern Renaissance man’ which is very flattering though I tend to see myself more realistically as an ‘all-round media prostitute.’
