Sly is an artist, sculptor and songwriter who lives in North London. Reluctant to classify herself in any particular way or style mainly because she is constantly evolving and experimenting and believes that a true artist leaves a unique footprint. Having experimented with portraits now producing abstract pieces that explore emotions evoked by colour and their vibrational resonance. Sly works in all media in particular with acrylics and resins on Perspex supports and sells her art pieces and designs at exhibitions and has won competitions. My statement as an artist Being a creator is a journey of self discovery and therefore you can’t pigeon hole your style. We don’t wear the same style of jacket for the duration of our lives and so similarly, creating art evolves and the journey never ends. The only constant is my imagination and the stories it gives birth to. I am reluctant to classify myself in any particular way as an artist. I am Me! The purpose of my art is to use color, texture, and form to create a visually stimulating image. One that vibrationally resonates with the viewer. I also use it as an opportunity to explore spontaneity and chance, building on memories, and connections. Most of my inspiration for abstract painting comes from how I feel. Feeling is everything… I feel in colour. Colour and texture take central role in my paintings. They assist me in communicating the story I am trying to tell and come together within the painting, so that it becomes a journey of communication between you, as a viewer and me, the painter. My paintings do not have a precise location in any time and/or space. They come from all that is and that ever existed. I use images from my imagination with offerings from both this world and the celestial. Signs and messages and feelings that come to me are conveyed by my brush strokes. Most of the time my paintings tell more than one story. The images are interposed, interwoven, or dissolved like stardust in one another much like memories. Each painting is filled with layer upon layer of paint, alcohol inks, pastels and resins, creating a piece of art to evoke the senses and transport one to another place in one’s imagination. I put all that I Am into each piece. SONG WRITING I have an ever growing portfolio of song lyrics and poetry. I write daily and it is my meditation. My songs explore emotions and feelings triggered by events and those people that come into one’s life and change them forever.
