Sometimes there isn’t words that can express what we want to share with others. Art is another language of expression, and I create illustrations to capture emotion, story, meaning. I started drawing when I was a child in foster care, it allowed me to communicate and find a future with art that was not the typical cycle for foster children.
I decided to do my best in education after learning about college, while at first wanting to create stories to share and increase awareness about the foster system, I discovered through college, how much more I could help with my art. It can be hard to acknowledge abuse in the foster system, the homeless we pass everyday, the environment and our way of life clashing.
I made sure my assignments that I had choice in always had an important message. A short comic about neglectful parents and an important lesson to not judge someone based on their sex. Digital illustrations of a space ship, filling it with plant life and giving it a more organic life rather than just metals. I make my characters with fantasy, but powerful stories relating to human trafficking, morals, and more.
With the skills to create, I want to create with purpose. Even if its personal, to express my own anger, happiness, excitement. If it’s to help design a tattoo that will have meaning throughout one’s life. Every small difference contributes to the larger picture around us.
I do not judge and take criticism without offense as I am always growing as an artist to improve my skills and communication.
