With 14 years of experience as an FX artist, I bring a deep understanding of 3D fundamentals, technical expertise, and a proven ability to develop creative and efficient solutions in fast-paced environments. Throughout my career, I have worked across commercial studios, the film industry, and animation—leading FX teams, building pipelines, and delivering high-quality, scalable results.
My journey as an FX artist began at Locus Studio in South Korea, where I developed a passion for the technical aspects of 3D. This curiosity drove me to explore innovative solutions to complex problems and refine my technical foundation. After nearly five years at Locus, I transitioned to Dexter Studio to further challenge myself by working within larger, more collaborative teams. Within six months, I was promoted to FX Team Leader, where I oversaw large-scale projects and optimized workflows to enhance the quality and efficiency of the team’s output.
After two years at Dexter, I joined Vixen Studio, once again as an FX Team Leader. There, I contributed to the development of an improved FX pipeline, driving workflow efficiency across multiple projects. My desire to work on international projects eventually brought me to Montreal, where I’ve had the privilege of working at world-renowned studios such as DNEG, Reel FX, and Sony Imageworks.
One of my key strengths is adaptability. I believe in using the right tools for the right situation and take pride in my ability to quickly learn new software or techniques. While Maya was initially my primary application, I extended my technical skill set by creating tools and automating workflows using MEL and Python. These experiences have made me comfortable with programming, and I am currently developing plugins in C++ to further enhance my workflow. Additionally, Houdini has become a core tool in my toolkit, allowing meto leverage 3D principles to craft visually compelling effects.
Beyond film, I’ve worked on a variety of projects, including feature animation, game
cinematics, and VR UX design for Samsung, which introduced me to Unreal Engine and Unity. These diverse experiences have broadened my perspective and given me the confidence to tackle new challenges across different media and platforms.
