I’m Turlough McHugh, a composer and sound designer specializing in immersive soundscapes and dynamic music for video games, film, and other media. With a background in music and audio engineering, I bring a deep understanding of how sound shapes experiences—whether it’s a high-energy action soundtrack, a dreamy ambient score, or meticulously crafted sound effects that bring a world to life.

I’ve worked on projects like Pointdexter (a 2D puzzle platformer by Usu Games), where I created an electronic-funk-inspired soundtrack to keep gameplay fresh and engaging, and Orcs Must Die Classic, where I blended orchestral and heavy metal elements for a pulse-pounding experience. My work on Neo Worlds Online explored electronic, ambient, and orchestral textures to enhance its VR setting.

Beyond game audio, I produce and release my own music, blending indie, bedroom pop, funk, and psychedelia to create rich, atmospheric soundscapes.

    uniE613 Bunker Theory
Bunker Theory is a pseudo-horror visual novel where your choices shape the story, relationships, and multiple endings. Trapped in a room with eight strangers and a duffle bag bearing your name, you must navigate trust and tension to uncover the truth. For this project, I composed the original soundtrack, blending elements of trip-hop, electronic, and ambient music to enhance the game’s suspenseful and immersive atmosphere. The music shifts dynamically, supporting moments of mystery, tension, and emotional connection as players uncover the truth behind their predicament. https://youtu.be/CNmp4M7vBVU?si=Fs1cw-NOYmMl46-A
    uniE613 Lockdown
Set aboard the abandoned cargo ship BLDVR Adom, this sci-fi game immerses players in an eerie, desolate atmosphere. After weeks in quarantine, you emerge to find the ship on emergency power and the crew mysteriously absent. For this project, I crafted the sound design to enhance the game's unsettling and immersive atmosphere. Inspired by the Alien and Predator series, as well as various sci-fi films and games, I focused on creating an eerie mechanical soundscape—distant clanks, humming engines, and ambient ship noises—to reinforce the feeling of isolation and unease. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6Ki-udNWaU&t=181s
    uniE613 Bowl'd Over
What starts as a simple bowling game quickly transforms into an epic dark fantasy adventure. As the lanes give way to something far more sinister, players must adapt to a world filled with mystery, danger, and ancient forces beyond comprehension. For this project, I composed the original soundtrack, drawing inspiration from orchestral and choir-driven scores like those in the Dark Souls series. The music evolves alongside the gameplay, beginning with lighter tones before shifting into a grand, ominous soundscape that enhances the game's dramatic transformation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xfm2s6S0fRQ&feature=youtu.be
    uniE613 Sentenced to Death
Created for a game jam, this grid-based dungeon crawler challenges players to escape a deadly labyrinth while battling monsters in a turn-based typing combat system. With danger lurking in every corner, survival depends on quick thinking and skillful strategy. For this project, I composed the original soundtrack, drawing inspiration from dark fantasy music with rich string arrangements and haunting choir elements to heighten the game's ominous and immersive atmosphere. I also designed the sound effects, ensuring they complemented the game's mechanics and enhanced the overall experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIwbYzylY0c
uniE613 Gob Splat: Quest for the Precious Grease
In this fast-paced and chaotic game, players must infiltrate goblin territory to extract the universe’s most valuable resource—grease. Armed with an arsenal of unconventional tools, the mission is simple: get in, get grease, and get out before time runs out. For this project, I composed the original soundtrack, drawing inspiration from high-energy battle mini-games and the Crash Bandicoot series. The music is fast-paced, rhythmic, and packed with momentum, perfectly complementing the game's frantic and humorous gameplay. https://youtu.be/wM4dsauORes?si=vVVz090jHhv6hWvZ
    uniE613 Pointdexter
For Pointdexter (2025), a 2D puzzle platformer, I composed a funky, electronic soundtrack driven by syncopated rhythms and groovy basslines to keep players engaged. The music prioritizes rhythm and momentum over melody, creating an energetic and immersive soundscape. I also designed simple yet cohesive sound effects that integrate with the music, ensuring a smooth and immersive audio experience without any friction between elements. My work helps bring Pointdexter’s playful and creative world to life through sound. https://youtu.be/1_SGsGqqAic?si=CHGPcoNFZCIWyYgx
    uniE613 A Dash of Magic
In this enchanting game, players take on the role of a magical artisan, crafting potions and enchanted items for customers against the clock. With a fully interactive workshop and a variety of crafting stations, the game brings a whimsical, alchemical world to life. For this project, I composed the original soundtrack, using acoustic guitars and a variety of percussion instruments to create a playful, magical atmosphere. The music enhances the game's charm and sense of wonder, making each moment in the workshop feel immersive and engaging. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuO4pmTnezs
    uniE613 Orcs Must Die! (Classic)
For Orcs Must Die Classic, I composed a high-energy soundtrack blending orchestral grandeur and heavy metal intensity to enhance the thrill of wave-based combat. The music drives the action with powerful rhythms and aggressive guitar riffs, reinforcing the chaos of battle. In addition to the soundtrack, I designed all in-game sound effects, from the clash of swords and the twang of bows to the roar of orcs and the impact of traps and spells. Every sound was crafted to immerse players in the game's retro-inspired world while maintaining a visceral, satisfying audio experience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjaNR14WQ08
    uniE613 Neo Worlds Online
For Neo Worlds Online, a massively multiplayer online game in VRChat, I composed an immersive soundtrack that enhances the game's dynamic environments and player experience. Blending electronic, orchestral, and ambient elements, I created music that adapts to gameplay—whether exploring vast worlds or engaging in fast-paced minigames—helping to shape the game’s atmosphere and storytelling. https://youtu.be/_8EYWx9Jmxw?si=nedDdjEhqzEDGrcm
