Alex Keren’s music is a thrilling tale of discovery that has resulted in a unique voice and style reflecting the diversity of musical, artistic and cultural influences, which he has made his own. Born in Paris to a British mother and a Peruvian father. Alex Keren grew up between France and England in a thoroughly artistic and multicultural environment. Alex Keren points to his discovery of blues music, and particularly the music of Jimi Hendrix, when he was a teenager as the event that changed everything for him. Although he was already an accomplished drummer, he taught himself guitar and never let go of his instrument again since. . His first studio consisted of two tape decks he would switch between to add additional layer of vocals, drums or guitar. These homemade recordings and numerous cellar jam sessions taught him the value of experimentation, blending musical styles and collaboration with other musicians. In 1999 Alex Keren began playing and singing at venues in Soho, Brixton and Camden with his band ‘Brothers on the Slide’ and collaborated on projects with a wide variety of artists, including the world-famous musicians and dancers from stage sensation STOMP. Having studied music and sound engineering at prestigious London schools, Alex Keren began working as a producer, composer and sound engineer for other artists, first in Bristol and then at FiveMusic studio in Paris. His credits range from dance to R&B and world, and even to children’s music, with several international successes on SonyBMG and Warner Music. Alex Keren has played and sung on releases by Touré Kunda, The Lone Monkee, The Snatch and DJ Richard Grey. His solo debut album released in 2010 and signed to the record label Underdog Records, has received a fair amount of success, playlisted on national Radio such as Virgin radio, Europe 1, Fip, France Inter, along with national TV. His second album THE SPARK, recorded in Paris and co-produced by Joe Marlett ( Foo Fighters, Stone temple Pilots, Seal … ) is set to be released early 2025. In the meantime Alex continues his musical journey by recording albums with the reggae/Soul band YOUNG LORDS, has been producing many different independent artist in the style of pop, rock and soul. He also does a lot of sync work for the likes of Artlist, Kaptain music, Gum Tapes and Universal. Alex Keren is an outstanding artist and instrumentalist that combines Soul, Funk and pop into a cool mix of engaging musical pieces. Reminiscent of the Funk Symphony artists of the 70s, his sound is musically polished with raw original sound.
