I am currently a 2nd Year Musical Theatre Student at the University of Portsmouth.
I believe my A-levels, Criminology, Law and English will support me in the creative field as they are developing my ability to analyse and critique different theories and concepts, a skill which I believe to be transferable when applying this to the stage and study’s.
My experience and commitment to performance has been wide ranging and enabled me to develop my skills in this area. I have performed in a variety of shows taking on different parts, Jasmine in “Aladdin,” Wendy in “Peter Pan,” Vivian in “Legally Blonde,” Thea in “Spring Awakening” and performing on stage for the company’s Queen Jubilee celebration. In all of these roles, I have worked hard to embody the character, and take direction from the company’s director adjusting and developing my performance.
Experiences such as these have motivated me to challenge myself and widen my skills to take on the back stage role of Choreographer. In this role, I have been able to draw on my own dancing experience, both practically and theoretically using established dance steps and styles and developing my own to suit the style of the show. Resilience and determination has certainly been important for this when working with different people with different levels of ability.
In addition to these experiences, I have recently had the chance to play an extra in a Warner Brothers film, “Vindication Swim,” and take part in additional dialogue replacement (ADR). This was interesting and helped me develop my vocal skills and learn about another style of performance.
I am an active 19- year-old and love the outdoors taking full advantage of the beautiful countryside around me walking my energetic cockapoo. Fitness is important to me so I find time to take weekly Pilates and gym classes. Additionally I am also on the Phoenix Blaze team at the University of Portsmouth.
Working part-time as a Student Ambassador , is enabling me to develop transferable skills which will be replicated in my future career. Whilst I work, I am met with difficulties and challenges that help me to quickly think and act efficiently which I believe has helped me when working with my amateur dramatic company.
Furthermore working in childcare has been very rewarding as I meet different types of people each day and have to deal with their individual needs and demands enabling me to demonstrate my excellent people skills and adaptability.
