uniE621 Slam Dunk Cinema - Brand Design
With the last name Duncan, there were some ideas we had for naming and wanted to go with Slam Dunk. The last part was tricky, due to the fact that our options were limited because URLs and the like were taken. Cinema seemed to work perfectly. I thought it would be fun to create a basketball hoop with a movie ticket and film reel. The outcome was well-liked, and I wanted to make sure the name was bold and legible from within. graphicdesigner branding illustrator designer logo
    uniE621 InkSpression - Documentary Poster
This was the first of many film projects I got to be a part of. My main role was to create the poster to help promote it for a small event called 'Doc Night'. The poster shows focus on the tattoo artist that was the primary person in the film. The lower part of the poster is the actual tattoo studio we filmed in, and the background images are tattoos they have done over the years. graphicdesigner designer
uniE621 PREDATOR Ambush - Sandpaper Product Launch Ads
Part of the campaign process in conjunction with the video, was to create a set of Google ads that would head to the landing page. If a user searched up any phrase or keywords that we specified, they would start to see those ads. There are many different types of sizes to choose from, so I choose the best performing sizes according to Google, and made sure the layout of each ad size matched appropriately. graphicdesigner branding designer logo illustrator
uniE608 PREDATOR Ambush - Sandpaper Product Launch Video
I had a lot of work put into this video process. I started with the script to ensure we had the right message laid out. Once approved, I created storyboards to fit the narrative. The next steps were hiring a professional voice narrator that had the 'built Ford Tough' sound. The next complicated step was to hire a 3D artist to create the 3D abrasive grains. I sketched out what I was looking for, as well as finding references to help out their process. This turned out beautifully. I created the intro graphic for AMBUSH and attributes in After Effects, and everything else in Premiere Pro. I found free music to use and actually mixed a mechanical tiger noise and alarm right when the name is introduced. This gave the video a big punch that I was looking for. By utilizing Youtube paid ads for a week, as of now it has over 17,000 views. advert videoeditor video
    uniE608 Bengals Hype Video (UNOFFICIAL)
The Cincinnati Bengals obviously have a huge fandom in Dayton. Around this time, they broke a 30-year curse by winning the AFC Championship, and even went to the Superbowl. I had someone ask me if I could make my own hype video to celebrate the big victories. This was purely to get better with video editing, and I do not own any of the music or videos seen below. videoeditor motiongraphics
uniE608 Artificial Malice - Visual Effects (VFX) & Practical Reel
This was the very first time I did any sort of VFX. It didn't prove to be a challenge, but was more intimidated by the importance of how this can help the film be sold as a Sci-Fi Drama. The practical effects was something I was used to. We got the actors to do a photoshoot behind a green screen, and I found convincing backgrounds and changed the lighting to help sell the photography in the film. UX/UI design is one of my favorite things - so making a fake App PDF to fit in a p hone was very fun. I had to make sure I made the right size for the actors phone, and had to make sure certain aspects were going to be seen through the camera. The sound engineer apparently had issues fitting the mics on certain films, so I sat down and made sure I was able to trick the eye and hide the mics when I needed to. This process was very time consuming, due to the fact that you can't solely rely on After Effects, and have to make screens to where it can artificially write it out. vfxartist shortfilm graphicdesign
    uniE608 Poster Design Timelapse
Recording a design process was really fun and intensive. I had to make sure I had new recordings set up every 10 minutes throughout the entire time. As soon as I was done, I added all of the recordings and placed them in order using Premiere Pro. I sped up all the clips as fast as I could, and did a normal export. process poster design
uniE608 Big Lens Festival - Intermission Project
To develop a 15 minute break between films, I was tasked with creating an intermission. We decided to go wacky with it, and give a Tim & Eric, Adult Swim-style feel. This also includes a bumper to a trailer that was promoted at the festival. It was fun doing this behind the scenes, making sure we zoomed in at the right time, and dressing up as a shark was another thing I involved myself in. For the intro, we used footage from the classic Lobby Intermission. I then took a screenshot and removed the characters from the background, blurred it to give an older feel. For the music, I went the creative commons route and used a non-copywritten version that someone played on the piano. videoeditor intermission vfxartist
    uniE608 Athena's Corruption - VFX Reel
To be completely transparent, this was the very first time I did heavy visual effects, so I did a lot of prep work prior to diving in. I researched tutorials, helpful plugins, and general forums that people use to get more knowledgeable. Mocha Pro was insanely helpful with this process. After Effects has Mocha AE pre-installed, but the pro version was able to create meshes that helped the tracking process for the makeup and shield portions. The really important thing to learn about selling the effect, is to use simple blur presets to work with camera movements. This helps trick the eyes and makes it much more convincing. videoeditor vfxartist film video
uniE608 Matt S. Wilson Reel Intro
Matt is someone I've worked with on a few short films, and is a very talented editor. He asked if I could make a Gameboy Advance Intro for his Editor Reel that he will use to get projects and jobs. I did quick research on the best way to implement this, and I used After Effects to get each letter in the right movement. videoeditor vfxartist video
    uniE608 Athena's Corruption - Alternate Trailer
We wanted to create a separate trailer that was more fun to watch, and to get more time with certain characters. Short films range between 10-30 minutes, and there's hardly enough time to get to know everyone. Skylar and Utsu are the Rogue and Monk in the story, and both actors played off each other very well. The Director (Slam Dunk Cinema) got them in an audio booth and had them improvise what to say while watching the original trailer. I got to be very creative with this, and use my concept art for both Skylar and Utsu in the trailer itself. We wanted to make this more humorous and I think we pulled it off. videoeditor vfxartist shortfilm trailer
uniE621 Artificial Malice - Short Film Poster
We were obviously going for a 'Black Mirror' style, so I looked up ways to create a chipped glass effect. I wanted to make sure the 'power' button was in full display, so I photoshopped it to where the power button was cut out of the glass. Another decision was placement. I wanted to have the Android in the center, since he is dividing the family with his aggressive behavior. The opposites of the characters show their emotions very clearly with how stressed and upset they are. poster logo graphicdesigner film designer
