    uniE621 Neptune Fish
For this fictional brand of frozen fish products I created a series of stylised illustrations. I’ve later used these in a series of packaging designs and marketing materials. Using illustrations in stead of photography helps to set the brand apart from it’s competitors and supports the concept of a healthy and sustainable product. graphicdesigner branding illustrator designer packagingdesign
    uniE621 Sainsbury’s Tea
The British aren’t just fond of their tea, they quite like birds as well. So what started out as a set of experimental illustrations of birds based on geometrical shapes and a limited colour pallet evolved into a set of packaging designs for tea. Next to those I’ve also designed the little labels that goes on the actual teabags and a give-away; a basic birdhouse; that doubles as a giftbox for the packaging similar to the ones that are used for wine bottles. A simple advert and poster complete the set. graphicdesigner branding illustrator designer packagingdesign
    uniE621 Jupiler Limited Edition (Concept)
An iconic lager such as Jupiler would be a dream client for any designer. So I started working on a redesign; as a personal project; for the can and bottle label together with a number of promotional items positioning it as a “limited edition” design. I’ve applied my personal style to the packaging and made sure to re-use the iconic elements like the bull and the well known color pallet. graphicdesigner branding illustrator designer packagingdesign
    uniE621 Museum graphics
Even though we know a lot about dinosaurs these days, there’s still a lot of that knowledge based on educated guess work. Based on illustrations, visuals from movies and museum models I’ve created a series of illustrations of different dinosaurs using geometrical shapes and a limited colour pallet. The minimalistic style of these images allows for a lot of room when it comes to interpreting the actual appearance of the creatures. Later on I’ve used the same illustrations for a set of museum graphics and promotional materials. graphicdesigner illustrator designer infographic
    uniE621 Moka Coffee
Waking up in the morning, meeting a friend or reading a book; moments in everybody’s day that just get that little bit better with a nice cup of coffee on the side. Depending on the moment, the people you’re with or your personal taste call for different blends and intensities of brew. That’s why Moka’s coffee blends have different characters assigned to them. Each with its own distinct personality like a good listener, an analytic thinker or even a shoulder to cry on. Through the use of limited angles, line withs and a rigid grid I created a set of particular illustrations depicting the different characters each with it’s own unique personality. These are used, not only on the packaging, but throughout the different promotional items as well. Not just through the use of these characters but with bold colours as well the different flavours are instantly recognisable and the packaging stands out from the competition on the supermarket shelves. Pairing these bright colours with black ensures a premium yet vibrant appearance for both the packaging and all derived promotional materials. graphicdesigner branding illustrator designer packagingdesign
    uniE621 Whalers Rum
Inspired by the story of Moby Dick I designed this custom bottle and matching label for the fictitious brand “Whalers” rum. The shape of the bottle was inspired by the curved head of a sperm whale as used in the original illustrations in the book from 1851 by Herman Melville. For the label I decided to stay close to the nautical theme but deliberately steered clear of traditional techniques such as engraving or etching. Using a a modern minimalist approach to the illustration combined with high end finishes such as embossing and gold foil give the final product a contemporary and luxurious feel. Especially when the bottle is presented in it’s custom linen covered gift box. graphicdesigner branding illustrator designer packagingdesign
    uniE621 Newton’s Farmhouse Cider
There’s nothing like enjoying a nice refreshing crisp pint of cider in the English countryside. The labels and basic communication tools I’ve designed for Newton’s Farmhouse Cider, a fictional brand of cider, reflect this idea through the use of a set of illustrations based on wildlife typically found in the British countryside. These minimal illustrations give the labels a contemporary look yet hold on to the traditional values and emotions that ar associated with the product. Next to that, they give the bottles and every deviated communication tool a distinct look helping it to stand out from the competition. graphicdesigner branding illustrator designer packagingdesign
    uniE621 Etrusco Pasta
One could argue that all pasta basically is the same thing apart from its shape. And even though you could consider this to be true, the different shapes and sizes do serve an actual purpose. Depending on the type of sauce you want to serve with your pasta dish, the shapes of the pasta help to absorb the ingredients. That is why I created a set of illustrations using a distinct visual style using geometrical shapes and a limited colour pallet highlighting the different pasta shapes. Supported by a vivid background colour to help set the different packaging designs apart however ensures they form a strong series as well. As apposed to competing brands who often use the same colour pallet throughout their range of packaging, the Etrusco brand gets a vibrant look despite a nostalgic feel thanks to the use of illustration and typography. This helps to set it apart from the competition, especially on the supermarket’s shelves. graphicdesigner branding illustrator designer packagingdesign
    uniE621 Coop Cat Treats
I created a number of cat illustrations based on the (for me) usual set of limitations such ass restricted amount of colours, consistent line thickness and a fixed 15º rotation increment on any angle throughout the illustrations. Within these limitations I carefully looked at the balance between the character and quirkiness of the cats without making them overly cutesie. In a second fase I applied these illustrations to a set of fictional packaging designs and promotional items to give an idea of the potential scope of the artwork. The selected typeface and the minimal designgrid used for these items was carefully selected and based on the design principals of the illustrations themselves. This ensures a cohesive and robust system that can easily be extended to a large number of different products such as canned or dry cat food, kitty litter toys, … Next to that the hole concept can be adapted to fit different species such as dogs, birds, rabbits, … as well. graphicdesigner branding illustrator packagingdesign
