The days follow one after another, always the same monotonous daily routine. Until one day, suddenly, everything changes. The world is deformed, and everyday life becomes the stage for bizarre situations resembling something out of a movie.
And she wonders: “Is this real or is it just a dream?”
This short film seeks to represent the feelings of monotony, isolation and even loneliness that are caused by the daily routine.
Entering adulthood brings new responsibilities and mundane daily tasks, leaving less time and less time for what we really enjoy doing. Many people end up in a routine cycle between home and work, without many opportunities to stimulate their creative and intellectual side and wind up disconnected from their own lives.
In this context where practically every waking moment is spent performing boring and worthless tasks, one of the most common defence mechanisms of the human mind is escapism. Escapism is “daydreaming”, it is plunging into fictional worlds and stories, dreaming of being “the one” in a universe full of magic, adventure, mystery and plot twists.
The main objective of this short film is to let spectators draw their own conclusions about the veracity of the events, leaving it up to them to interpret what is or isn’t real. What is the cause of the strange and absurd situations in which the main character finds herself? Is the girl dreaming? Or is she stuck in a loop? Or is it all just a hallucination?
