Charlotte is drawn to people with interesting life stories and those who challenge today’s societal conventions. Her work often embraces surrealism and, coming from a music video background, she attempts to push conventional storytelling boundaries in a visually striking and compelling way. Having worked as an editor for 16 years, storytelling is ingrained within her. This coupled with a strong visual style helps her craft stories that are poetic and emotionally driven. Charlotte has directed numerous award-winning music videos for artists including Kimbra, Aldous Harding, Benee, The DMA’s and Marlon Williams.
In 2018 Charlotte directed ‘Give Kate A Voice’, a short film that commemorated 125 years of women’s suffrage in New Zealand and won multiple awards. Her short documentary ‘Nowhere To Be’, following cinematographers from around the world and their experience of the COVID-19 pa ndemic in April 2020, screened at Vivid 2024.
In 2020, Charlotte’s short film ‘OK Chlöe’ was acquired by The New Yorker Documentary, featured on The Guardian, Short of the Week and numerous festivals. Following on from the success of her short, Charlotte is currently in post-production on a follow-on feature documentary titled “The Weight of Change” about Queer Green’s Co-Leader Chloe Swarbrick. She is also in development on three TV Series and two scripted Features.
