Chris Bowman is a queer, non-binary filmmaker and artist. They believe that while art imitates life, life also imitates art. We have a responsibility to create work with integrity that reflects the world we wish to live in rather than the one we’ve been given.
As a director they enjoy working on genre pieces and have a lot of experience combining special and visual effects to create unique aesthetics and engaging worlds. Having worked in many different parts of the film industry, Chris is scrappy and resourceful as well as organized and diligent. They love leading a team of people in pursuit of an ambitious vision.
After graduating from Colorado College with a bachelor’s in Political Science, they worked briefly at National Geographic as an Assistant Editor before moving to NYC to pursue a dream of working in film. They spent two years working in art departments on everything from feature films to music videos, eventually working their way up to production designing.
Chris received their MFA in Directing at the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema. They have been nominated for the National Board of Review Student Grants twice, and was recently a Semifinalist for the NewFest New Voices Filmmaker Grant.
