D&AD Award-winning storyteller who for over 12 years has been helping a kaleidoscope of clients, from national TV networks to dog toy companies, find their funny. There’s been features on the BBC, TNT Sport, S4C and Channel 4’s The Last Leg, national ad campaigns, million-viewed music videos, over 200 illustrations for Metro and even a star turn on The Joe Rogan Experience. Other clients include: Nickelodeon, Nike, Universal Music, Esquire, Women’s Health, Cancer Research UK, Greenpeace, The School of Life. daveandersonart.com (daveandersonart.com ltd. is a UK private limited company) “The good Mister Anderson’s art lies deliciously between maths- book doodles, evil Hallmark cards and left-wing newspaper cartoons. His humour is dry and acerbic, his wit sardonic and ironic. Imagine a young, British, OCD, po-mo Larson, his gaze penetrative and revealing, his tongue scathing and sharp, like a Radio 4 comedy presenter contemplating his suicide note.” Urban Junkies “He’s great...that animation’s amazing...it’s perfect!” Joe Rogan “Absolutely exceptional.” Elis James, BBC “The simple yet very humouristic drawings Dave Anderson makes are always contrasting within themselves. Form and content seem to be created to be the exact opposites of each other, and that’s what makes his style so interesting.” Modart Magazine “Ridiculously rude.” Stylist Magazine “If you don’t have a good old belly laugh, or at least a chuckle at his creations, well, you’re even more bitter than I am.” Design Week

Media & Entertainment
    uniE621 TNT SPORT • S4C • CHANNEL 4
After animating one of their more astonishing stories during the Covid lockdown, was asked by the cult podcast The Socially Distant Sports Bar to bring an additional layer of visual entertainment to the humorous and obscure sports moments discussed in their 8-part TV debate show, Down the Clubhouse (TNT Sports). https://youtu.be/NptblWnA6HA?si=FCdM4Cjki7EbV5OY https://youtu.be/mfugZm7Qtwc?si=C8FApXpXilU-TeQe Having establishing an excellent and efficient working relationship with the series’ producers, have been invited to supply props and visuals on their subsequent project, Channel 4’s The Last Leg, a live UK panel show, popular for its irreverent wit and ability to tackle serious topics. Is a thrilling creative exercise in rapid problem-solving, under extremely tight time constraints. Also off the back of the work for TNT, was approached by Welsh language channel S4C to make a similar contribution to Taith i Gaeredin, a documentary following a group of comedians as they prepare for their debuts at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Horror stories of worst gigs, including those of festival veterans Tudur Owen and Nish Kumar, are made all-too-real through animation. https://youtu.be/SG7rKYjUv_A?si=eZB1eUBn5A4g2Y1Y animation illustration TV television podcast graphics comedy humour
    uniE621 BBC WALES
After 25,000 views on Twitter in the first week for a short animated sample of the popular BBC podcast Elis James’ Feast of Football, impressed producers at BBC Sport aired it at half-time of a televised FA Cup tie. https://youtu.be/Yzh4iEz7sdo?si=RpJ63xcYPxoVNO3P Then, two fantastic opportunities. Was commissioned to make the animated titles, stings and graphics for the Elis James’ Euro Feast of Football TV series following the Welsh national team through the 2020 European Championships. The relatable, hand-crafted aesthetic connected well with both avid fans and casual viewers and made an enjoyable change from the usual football-related programming. https://youtu.be/__zYjFBs4lw?si=X5E0XiS-9O0ndNW1 Described by The Times as ‘a tale worthy of any gritty boxing film’, the BBC documentary Bomber: Newport’s Rocky is a moving and inspirational illustration of David Pearce, the steelworker turned boxing champion whose career was tragically cut short. With scant archive footage to hand, supplied thoughtful animated sections to bring a powerful, forgotten story to life. https://youtu.be/VDXDVlafChU?si=BTO6vO_zyvZa_ZQ6 animation illustration sport football comedy humour tv television
    uniE621 THE JOE ROGAN EXPERIENCE
Keen to apply directing skills learned as a storyboard artist and inspired by the freedom and accessibility of the new world of podcasting, approached the author of The New York Times best-seller Sex at Dawn Dr. Christopher Ryan to inter- pret a section of his excellent show Tangentially Speaking. Unfortunately for him, chose the story of his first sexual experience (which was with a cat). 78,000 YouTube hits, but the biggest thrill was when the film was aired and praised at length when Chris appeared as a guest on The Joe Rogan Experience, the world’s most popular podcast. https://youtu.be/irAS5iM73s0?si=Yb8GuDoHs56erxVw animation illustration podcast comedy humour
uniE621 CANCER RESEARCH UK • JACAMO
Directing credits include two major national ad campaigns. Cancer Research UK’s Dryathlon encourages people to still have a good time - picking up any number of new, imaginative and colourful vices - just as long as they stay sober for the month of January. Was invited aboard by the agency Karmarama to design and direct a fresher, more playful approach, very different to other, more sombre, health-related initiatives. A Campaign Magazine ‘Ad of the Day’ and running across all UK channels, it helped to raise over £4 million for the charity. https://youtu.be/6inoVgaYquc?si=gQb3hwRXX3YAPk4I In collaboration with the agencies LOVE and Pocko, also designed and directed 12 animated TV idents for the UK menswear chain Jacamo. The ads ran on the UK digital comedy channel Dave, supporting its own quirky and irreverent identity. https://youtu.be/mIGxmY-EpQs?si=hhme2HuI9d0NSnU2 Simultaneously, illustrated Jacamo’s Real Man Manual, a book laying down the company’s reinvention, which picked up two D&AD Pencils, an award that celebrates outstanding work in the design and advertising industry.
    uniE621 HUSH | NICKLEODEON • THE PLAYER’S TRIBUNE
As director on the books of the award-winning production company HUSH London, have been selected for a wide variety of brilliant opportunities, collaborating with exceptionally talented fellow animators. Projects include stings for Nickelodeon, safety videos for Shell and particularly enjoyed making How it Happened, a series of 5 short stories for The Players’ Tribune. Built on recorded inter- views with those behind some of the USA’s most notorious sporting incidents, include New York Yankees legend Joe Torre’s memories of the infamous “Bug Game” and the story of former linebacker Pepper Johnson’s brief stint as security for Run DMC. Also, have just completed a yet-to-be-disclosed and incredibly exciting American TV comedy project, due for release later in 2024. https://youtu.be/kjoDlE_TBig?si=3px9Q_2hM1hNURNw https://youtu.be/xQteaDCHCQQ?si=BhkykQ7c4BbnkTkK https://youtu.be/McZHrjS6YCU?si=EP2MWAtRgmRmVy-Q https://youtu.be/03vVPDIgPbA?si=EkBdbuCpuUJpr6LL https://youtu.be/86ZGcjiY0HQ?si=yEu3Rn32Ruaiv2Sw animation illustration art artwork drawing humour comedy sport
    uniE621 THE SCHOOL OF LIFE
A global educational company founded by bestselling author and philosopher Alain de Botton, offering a place to step back and think intelligently about central emotional concerns. As one of their animators, have interpreted several of their essays. The films aim to provide comfort and demystify complex and often stigmatised topics such as anxiety and depression. Showing proof that there’s much freedom, inspiration and catharsis to be found in humour and that laughter by no means makes the subject any less serious, have been warmly and widely received, with over 2 million views collectively on YouTube. https://youtu.be/n7Gu5qOqYqU?si=SXcU_ateC0p0dLt- https://youtu.be/UoLWYhwROBI?si=27sISB1sEmL0Ewtj https://youtu.be/XFTXKqRujxk?si=Pm5b6cqSkBL8rEhS animation illustration art artwork drawing humour comedy education
uniE621 UNIVERSAL MUSIC • TOM ROSENTHAL
Much career success stems from a long and fruitful working relation- ship with singer-songwriter Tom Rosenthal. Since a chance meeting in 2010, our music videos—a winning combination of bittersweet melodies and playful animation—have garnered over 3 million views on YouTube and have occasionally won awards at short film festivals around the world. https://youtu.be/sO5y4PWpx88?si=rTKGm5NKiex8WGmZ https://youtu.be/eOpCMbNegW0?si=FAfNnzTH9FYFyWRT https://youtu.be/HB-oHrp10xQ?si=euu0eADolFpLSvfv https://youtu.be/FFAsvL--0Cw?si=1znPp1k_Md1Pn-_Y https://youtu.be/L_jCubglck0?si=ckzOhuSwxPH7rRlS The videos caught the eye of Mercury KX, a modern classical, electronic and avant-garde music record label founded by Universal Music Group. For them, have since made multiple “visualizers” for various releases and playlists, the challenge often to produce high quality, captivating, long-form video content at a very quick turnaround. https://youtu.be/Yo275MWSHds?si=NCods6Ka1aNIibM5 https://youtu.be/k50oHZUvqlI?si=f-EmSo1QDUI2axUR https://youtu.be/hW1WnOVl3KY?si=T2y3P7d01A4Zg2bY animation illustration art artwork drawing music musicvideo
    uniE621 METRO • ESQUIRE • WOMEN”S HEALTH • NIKE • QI • TOM
As well as animation, commissions include editorial illustration for prominent magazines, ad campaigns and news platforms. Includes spreads for Esquire and Women’s Health and, to short deadlines and truly startling headlines, over 200 illustrations for Metro, the UK’s highest-circulation freesheet tabloid newspaper. The Third QI Book of General Ignorance is a publication to accompany the BBC comedy panel game quiz show. Was challenged by the show’s discerning researchers to come up with more than fifty sharp, witty ideas to accompany the surprising information that show what we often think we know is, in fact, incorrect or incomplete. Was invited by advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy to create a set of tongue- in-cheek social media “calling cards” for Nike’s Dare to Zlatan campaign, celebrating the fearless attitude and famously confident demeanour of one of the world’s most iconic footballers. A truly international project, was organised in London, then a photoshoot with the great Ibrahimovic was held in Paris and was finally drawn up in my studio at the time in Lima, Peru. Tom is a life insurance company tailored just for Dads. Was hired to provide humourous and engaging illustrations to complement the simple, user-friendly experience of their website, making the process of finding life insurance much less intimidating for fathers. illustration art artwork drawing humour comedy

    uniE621 STORYBOARDS
After being the art department and member of the writing team on a 2011 British Arrows Gold Award-winning advert for Farming & Countryside Education (Grey London), was invited by its director James Haworth to join him at Hungry Man Films as a story- board artist. A privilege to then work alongside many award-winning film directors, such as Taika Waititi, Steve Bendelack and Roderick Fenske, breathing character into their early ideas and, in return, learning an incredible amount about comedy and storytelling. Making a storyboard not only a practical production tool but also a joyful and impressive piece of crafted artwork in itself, there have been countless commercial campaigns for clients such as Gillette, Philips, Sky Sports, Snickers and Vodafone and was thrilled to help the brilliant comedian Harry Hill plan his movie.
