Diego Esteve was born in Porto Alegre and there, in the year 2000, he began his studies in theater where, in 2002, he graduated in the course of interpretation for TV and cinema. In 2005 he moved to Rio de Janeiro to study dramatic arts at the Faculdade da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro (UNIVERCIDADE). In college his taste for directing began to appear and he directed some plays during the course and simultaneously joined TVUnivercidade as an intern. There, he began to have contact with the stages of production, scriptwriting, editing and directing of TV programs, falling in love with the language. From there on, he begins to dive into the world of cameras and everything that is part of it, specializing initially in video editing. Starts directing some dance videos and scenes used in interdisciplinary performances that mixed theater and video. He graduates in 2009 and in 2010 is called to coordinate the video part of the political campaign of Romário. In 2011 he is called to make the soap opera Fina Estampa as an actor, but he falls even more in love with the gears of dramaturgy on television. That leaves him amazed and he is sure he wants to direct drama. In 2013 he is invited by Wolf Maya to be an assistant director at his school, which was opening in Rio de Janeiro. The invitation was immediately accepted because the school proposed to simulate the television studios with fidelity and mainly to be able to learn from one of the great names of Brazilian television. There Diego has contact with all the stages of a dramaturgical work, pre- production, production, and finalization. As an assistant, he experiences the daily routine of a television studio where the scenes recorded were usually from telenovelas. In more than 5 years as Wolf Maya’s assistant, it was necessary to understand the highest demands of the quality standard and of the function of an assistant director. To also understand the importance of each artistic and technical area, so that everything is in sync and in perfect communication, since the assistant director is responsible for all this synergy. At the school he also has the opportunity to work as an image director, acquiring important experience in the “multi-cam” language widely used in soap opera dramaturgy studios. Diego is then promoted to Assistant Director and Teacher of the acting subject for the cameras. His work as a teacher helped him develop his ability to guide the actors and actresses to achieve the best results in acting, and also helped him improve the human relationship between direction and cast, developing more and more an inclusive look in his direction, based on the relationship of respect and care for the other. Diego has reached personal heights directing more than 10 short films, the Webseries “Jaque’s Diary”, with innovative language and all recorded on cell phones, which has more than 10 million views and was nominated for this Webseries for two consecutive years for best direction, best cast and best webse
