I am a graphic artist, designer, and educator with over 15 years of experience. My background is in print design and layout, branding, wayfinding, environmental graphics, data-driven infographics, and illustration. As a leader in Brand department at Gensler I was responsible for working directly with our marketing department as well as internal and external clients, maintaining a high level of brand integrity, and bringing fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to a huge range of print- and web-based materials including proposal documents, conceptual design reports, permanent and temporary placemaking elements, informational brochures, public safety and active transportation campaigns, accessible websites, and signage. I have extensive experience working with public-sector clients as a senior graphic designer and art director for Alta Planning + Design, a mission-driven landscape architecture firm focused on active transportation infrastructure. At Alta I co-led the wayfinding + placemaking service area and specialized in community outreach and engagement. My recent experience as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kenya taught me the importance of understanding the cultural context, values, and communication styles of the community that I’m serving. I believe that communication is key to all creative and collaborative endeavors. I am: Collaborative and engaged: I am at my best when I’m working alongside others toward a shared goal. To be an effective teammate I think it’s important to get to know my colleagues’ strengths, needs, and communication styles. I am comfortable leading creative projects, actively contributing to cross-disciplinary teams, and presenting original ideas to colleagues, senior leadership, and clients. Community-minded: As a member of the Programs team at Alta Planning + Design, I helped to design and implement behavior change campaigns with a focus on public health and active transportation. I learned that people usually have very good reasons for the things they do–and in order to shift behavior it’s important to take the time to understand their motivations and barriers to change. Creative problem solver: As a professional designer with clients including local governments and multinational tech firms, I am a skilled creative problem solver. My process is rooted in stakeholder involvement, research and data gathering, and a flexible, adaptable mindset. Technically proficient: I have deep experience creating original, compelling 2D graphic design, mapping, and data visualization for print, signage, web, and other digital platforms. I have successfully worked directly with fabricators to produce office signage and megagraphics; full-color printed reports and brochures; wayfinding signage for parks and trails; cards, mailers, and other collateral. I am an expert user of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, and proficient at all aspects of hybrid and remote work.
