Emma is an independent film and TV Producer, with 12 years industry experience and training from BFI Producers Lab, We Are Parable/ Channel 4’s “Momentum” mentoring programme and an alumna of the prestigious National Film and Television School’s MA in producing. Her studies were supported by a BAFTA scholarship and mentoring from producers Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor (Blue Story, Champions), Christopher Graniere Defere and Claudia Yusef, (head of development at BBC Film). Of the graduation films she produced, the animation won a student Academy award and the live-action won gold YDA at Cannes Lions. Prior to producing fiction Emma worked for 3 years as a short-form producer in- house, an spent 5 years working in exhibition, and on large scale film and TV productions both as a runner and on locations teams. Before that she had a 10-year career as a food writer and chef specialising in the stories behind world foods and spices. During this time she collaborated on (and presented) a Channel 4 unscripted series (that shot worldwide) and co-wrote the accompanying book. She is happy working internationally developing commercial stories for global audiences. She is particularly interested in script development and consultancy for both live action and animation, and comfortable in an executive producing role as well as producing and line producing. Last year Emma produced a diversity project for Youtube and is currently developing and expanding her slate of scripted films and HETV. Amongst the projects she is working on are a feature film about the formative years of Shirley Bassey (based on IP, scripted development supported by BFI and Film Cymru), alongside producer Rebekah Gilbertson of Rainy Day Films, a feature about a prominent woman from Jamaican history (going in to development with BBC Film) and will be producing a block of a BBC series (that she is also script consulting on) in the latter part of 2024 alongside developing several TV series. She is represented by Mark Casarotto of agency Casarotto Ramsey.
