Hey! My name is Ella Signs, I received a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Advertising from Michigan State University (go green!) and am currently living in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, California, chasing my dreams as a freelance photographer & graphic designer. The inspiration and creative opportunities in a region filled with so much culture and diversity are endless. As for photography, I specialize in natural light photography— though I will never shy away from a creative challenge. I describe my style as warm, candid, emotive, and human and my aim is to capture the genuine emotions of a moment. My design style is a blend between trendy and timeless. I like to create work that feels fresh and with-the-times, but that is also able to withstand the test of time. Even more important, I aim to create designs that reflect my clients as individuals, which is possible only through communication & collaboration.

    uniE608 The GenZ Report Logo
The GenZ Report is a social-media-based news organization created for GenZ by GenZ, "providing an alternative to corporate news sources to engage young people and amplify their voices." Through collaboration with team members of The GenZ Report, it was agreed upon that the branding for the new news organization should feel fun yet professional. It was stressed that the organization would have to take extra steps to be taken seriously by the public, as they are managed exclusively by young people. The final primary logo is simple, yet still can be easily understood as being representative of a news company with its nod to a classic "breaking news" banner design. The "Z" is created using the negative space between the two halves of the banner, and is detailed with very basic hatching— which simultaneously adds both a playful retro vibe and a feeling of speed, quickness, and immediacy. The complimentary logo mark is simply the "box" surrounding the negative space "Z" from the primary logo. The slanted shape of this logo mark adds to that feeling of quickness that is common in news logos. Because the logo mark is so minimal and is made up of simple geometric shapes, it is still easily legible when scaled down. logodesign logodesigner graphicdesigner
uniE621 School of Logging Off Logo + Branding
School of Logging Off : "The destination for helping you redefine your relationship to work without sacrificing your next promotion." This digital playbook offers multiple tools, including a blog, a weekly newsletter, an eBook, and custom lesson plans. My job was to bring the School of Logging Off brand to life in preparation for the website's official launch. During my initial Zoom call with Grant (the Creator of School of Logging Off), he described wanting a logo that was the perfect balance between clean and modern; but also colorful, illustrative, approachable, and not *too* corporate. Additionally, he hoped for the logo to include the color teal— which had become a key color in his prior branding. After exploring a couple of alternative logo concepts, Grant approved the final School of Logging Off logo — a favorite concept of both of ours from the beginning. This clean but playful design incorporates the depiction of a "slide to power off" button meant to represent logging off from work. It also allows for a simple but effective secondary logo — a power button — which Grant utilized as his website's favicon. Furthermore, the all-caps font speaks "authority," but the rounded edges on the font speak "friendly" — the perfect juxtaposition for that balanced vibe we were aiming for. uniE608 Cake Smash Photoshoot: Concept to Completion
My client came to me looking to have a "Cake Smash" photoshoot to celebrate her daughter's 1st birthday. She expressed wanting props, but left what those props would look like up to me. So I created a mood board to gather inspiration for what I wanted the set of the photoshoot to look like. I then went to my local Goodwill and got to thrifting! After collecting all of my props, and assembling and washing them as necessary, I brought them all to the site of the photoshoot and created a little set for the birthday girl to get her photos taken at. I took lifestyle-style photos of the birthday girl and her family, edited the photos, and delivered them to a happy client! This short video documents that process. video photoshoot photographer
