Currently, as an in-house graphic designer and social media coordinator at Toronto Event Centre / Grand Bizarre, I am responsible for creating all of our visual assets ranging from digital (such as event flyers and promotional videos for social media, e-newsletters, and marketing pitch decks) to print (such as brochures, banners, tickets, event menus, and invitations). Examples of my achievements include:
- Producing marketing assets for our corporate events, most notably is the MLSE Foundations’ fundraising event Reds Soirée in 2023 and 2024 (featuring Toronto FC) in which the marketing team endorsed my social media flyers, e-newsletter design and promotional video.
- Creating branding guidelines and marketing campaigns for our summer event series, Sunset Beach.
Over time I have learnt that in order to achieve great things, one must learn to make necessary sacrifices. Design is all about compassion and communication between the maker and the user. A good designer, I believe, is one who can connect with others and understand that what we do is create things for an audience. Most times, we should yield up in order to explore and address different needs and perspectives. This is not an act of sublimation, but rather a necessary sacrifice to change someone’s world. And with a tiny world changed, we have created small leverage to change the larger context.
