Eric Hoegemeyer is a composer born and raised near Detroit Michigan USA. He began exploring music at age 6 with the Suzuki violin method and imitating his sisters playing the piano, then became passionate about drums and drum machines at age 11. Throughout his career he endeavored to be a fluid listener which has led him to collaborate on projects with a diverse range of artists including Patti Smith, Jesse Paris Smith, Don Was, Tom Verlaine, Kevin Saunderson, and Dennis Coffey. He learned his craft at Rustbelt Studios in Detroit and after getting hired initially as an Akai MPC3000 programmer and synthesist, quickly moved into engineering and production becoming head engineer. After relocating to New York, he co-scored 14 short films with Jesse Paris Smith for filmmaker Steven Sebring’s “Revolution” installation at the 69th Division Armory. They co-scored a short film collaboration with Patti Smith entitled “The Good Gray Poet” on installation with MOMA PS-1 as well as composing for Estee Lauder’s Modern Muse series which won a Clio Award. His album “Secret Agent Volume 1” was released on cassette by Brooklyn-based label Personal Affair. He remixed Sun Ra’s Heliocentric Worlds as a part of a compilation also released on Personal Affair. His original compositions have been performed at Carnegie Hall, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Rubin Museum of Art, MOMA PS-1 Rockaway and The Detroit Science Center. He has produced, engineered, or mixed hundreds of records for artists including Hundred Waters, H09909, Tash Neal, Mihali feat. Matisyahu, The Wiremen, Motet, HAL, Latroit, Jessica Hernandez, and Ghost Lion as well as composing music for Nike, Polaroid, Estee Lauder, Best Buy, GM, Ford, Netflix, and Ikea. Recently he has been scoring and sound designing films for directors Lije Sarke, Christopher Gruse, and Juan Roche, as well as releasing music eponymously and in collaborative pseudonyms The Klēg (Underground Resistance), eiSou, (Somnambula), and Giant Brain (Small Stone).
