Kekko Fornarelli (pseudonym of Francesco Fornarelli – Bari, 1978) is a musician, film score composer, and producer. With ten albums published and over 400 concerts in more than 60 countries around the world, he is currently one of the most appreciated Italian artists on the international music scene.
He began playing the piano at just three years old, demonstrating extraordinary talent from a young age. After receiving a classical education, he pursued deeper studies in jazz, captivated by the improvisational possibilities and free expression that the genre offers. Throughout his musical development, he absorbed various influences, from classical music to rock, electronic music, and diverse styles of world music, all of which have enriched his musical language.
Known for his unique style that blends jazz with influences from different musical genres, such as electronic, pop, and world music, Kekko Fornarelli has built an international career thanks to his ability to mix the European jazz tradition with contemporary elements, creating a modern sound accessible to a wide audience.
His style stands out for its ability to synthesize various genres while maintaining expressive coherence and emotional depth. His works reveal an innovative use of the piano, often merging it with electronic and digital instruments. Fornarelli creates music that goes beyond the boundaries of traditional jazz, exploring territories that include electronic and ambient sounds. His music is often described as “cinematic” because it evokes vivid images and atmospheric moods, making it perfect for soundtracks.
An eclectic and versatile artist, capable of moving across styles and eras like few others, he has developed a unique style characterized by the attempt to create music to observe rather than simply listen to. It is a distinctive and personal way to tell stories, express emotions, and ‘paint’ situations.
In addition to his work as a musician, Kekko Fornarelli is also a prolific composer of film scores, showcasing a versatility that makes him a truly multifaceted artist.
In 2024, he was awarded the prestigious Nino Rota Award, in Italy, for his film scores.
