Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Felipe immersed himself in the world of music from an early age. After graduating magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music in 2015, he moved to Los Angeles, where he spent two years first as an intern at Hans Zimmer’s studio (The Lion King and Interstellar) and later as assistant to composer Alex Wurman (March of the Penguins and Patriot). Currently, Felipe works as an independent composer and producer from his studio in Bogotá, where he composes for international and local productions. His work includes a diverse catalog of projects, such as the television series *Nat Geo Lab* (Nat Geo Kids - 2018), branded content for Nissan, additional music for the film *Memoria* by director Apichatpong Weerasethakul, which won the Jury Prize at Cannes (2021), and original music for the internationally recognized documentary *Fragmentos* (2020) by Colombian artist Doris Salcedo. In recent years, Felipe Durán has created a captivating collection of pieces for solo piano and piano accompanied by a string quartet, percussive textures, and electronic sequences, with two albums released to date: *Mitad azul, Mitad otros colores*, launched in 2019 at the Teresa Cuervo Auditorium of the National Museum, and *Donde aún viven los pájaros*, published by Colombian label Polen Records in 2023 and officially released at the Los Fundadores Library of Gimnasio Moderno in November of the same year. Through a unique language influenced by the current neo-classical movement, Felipe has been contributing to the country's music scene, performing concerts at venues such as Fundación ArteSumapaz (2020), Festival del más allá (2021), Proyecto Binario (2022), Casa la Buhardilla 54, and Taller El Azulejo (2023). Today, his compositions continue to solidify his position in the world of contemporary classical music, offering listeners a harmonic escape through his moving compositions. According to journalist Juan Carlos Garay on the radio program Onda Sonora on Radio Nacional de Colombia, Felipe enriches today’s music scene with “music that honors calm and stimulates the imagination."
