My name is Gerda, I am a professional double bassist who graduated in June 2022 with my Masters degree at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, in Professor Thomas Martin's class. I received my Bachelors degree at the Liszt Academy of Music in 2017. After graduating, I stayed in Birmingham, and currently freelancing with orchestras such as the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. I also got invited to teach at the Leeds Conservatoire, where I am currently the classical double bass teacher and lecturer. I was awarded first prize at the Lajos Montag National Double bass competition and won the prize for the best performance of the obligatory piece in 2017. I also got first prize in Slovakia, at the Dittersdorf International Double Bass Competition in 2019. I was invited to participate at the International Giovanni Bottesini Competition this summer in Crema. In 2020, I won a place at the Metropolitan Opera House Orchestra's musicians masterclass, which was held online. I was the double bassist of the Divertimento Chamber Orchestra for 3 years. I have attended at masterclasses with establish double bassists, such as: Giuseppe Ettorre, Zsolt Fejervari, Peter Kubina, Thomas Martin, Rinat Ibragimov, Klaus Trumpf, Botond Kostyak, Miloslav Gajdos, Thierry Barbé, Miloslav Jelinek, Leszek Sokolowski, Dorin Marc, Zsolt Tibay, Radoslav Sasina. Besides of playing in orchestras, and performing solo, and teaching students on different levels, my edition of the Saint-Saens Bassoon Sonata has been just published by StringVirtuoso and is now available to the public to purchase online. This year I've been playing with the following orchestras: Ludlow Camerata, Oxford Festival Orchestra, Cheltenham Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra, Oxford Millenium Orchestra, Pro Anima Orchestra, Meridian Sinfonia.
