I'm an award winning freelance illustrator, author, and educator with 36 years of professional experience. A 1988 graduate of Pratt Institute, I've worked in nearly all areas of the illustration field. I work traditionally (primarily acrylic on canvas board, pen and ink on paper, acrylic on paper, acrylic/ink/colored pencil on paper). I've written and illustrated two graphic novels (Vatican Hustle, NBM Publishing 2009, Elephant Man, NBM Publishing 2010) and authored two books on illustration (Illustration That Works, The Monacelli Press, 2015, and Understanding Caricature, The Monacelli Press/Phaedon Books, 2020). I taught illustration at The Maryland Institute College of Art for 9 years and have owned and operated my own illustration school, The Baltimore Academy of Illustration, since 2015.
