    uniE621 Circo Latino
Circo Latino is a circus-arts camp for mid-school and high-school students in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. Since its founding 12 years ago, Circo Latino has drawn hundreds of kids to its heart-centered community, its dedication to diversity along every demographic vector, and its ability to inspire dedication in its students. I’m honored to be in my second year with the program as a Teaching Artist. Coved-19 has canceled the in-person camp this year; but the Circo Teaching Artists are pivoting into the development of online content. Attached here are two “Jumping Jacks,” or paper dolls, that will function as “avatars” for the Teaching Artists they portray, and a demonstration of a style for hand-lettered video titles. illustrator illustration circus circusarts drawing inking digitalart webready avatar branding
uniE621 Alternate take for "Golden Crown," illustration for the Mountain Road Banner Project, 2018
Mountain Road is a low-key commercial thoroughfare north of downtown Albuquerque. Many of its homes were built in the early 20th century, and have been inhabited by generations of artists, writers and activists. My studio is on Mountain Road. In 2018, artist Julianna Kirwin raised funds to commission local artists and to make images illustrating Mountain Road stalwarts, like the Golden Crown Panaderia, for which I was chosen. Golden Crown makes Mexican-inspired breads and pastries in its own New Mexican way. I imagined them as fruits growing from a central Prickly Pear Cactus, a native of our high desert town. illustration handlettering illustrator colorpop digitaldrawing digitalpainting penandpixel

uniE621 Speculative illustration of painter Mark Rothko, 2016
Mark Rothko was a highly lauded Abstract Expressionist painter who took his own life in the early '70s. His paintings are incredibly empathetic, using little more than color combinations to convey a huge array of states of being. This drawing is one of the few images I have on RedBubble that sells consistently. illustrator markrothko illustration lineart penandpaper simple straightforward illo
