My musical journey began with Cantonese Opera (Yuequ), and since moving to Italy in 2010, I have been deeply involved in jazz. I graduated with full marks from Siena Jazz University, where I focused on integrating Yuequ elements into jazz—a reflection of my passion for honoring my cultural heritage while embracing experimentation and innovation. I have a strong background in composing music across genres—pop, jazz, ethnic, and synth—with a particular focus on creating culturally rich soundscapes. My debut album "Third Culture Kid" is a multicultural jazz-pop project featuring original songs in English, Italian, and Cantonese. My second album "Heidi Sings Italian Dialects" was a tribute to Italian folk songs, reimagined through a contemporary jazz lens. My current project, "Yut," further explores the fusion of East and West, blending Chinese and Italian melodies with jazz improvisation. In 2023, I ventured into film scoring with "A Road to a Village," which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Despite being new to film scoring and Nepali music, I successfully merged ethnic and contemporary elements to create a soundtrack that supported the storytelling and visuals, as well as resonated with both the Nepali and international audiences. As I continue to grow as a film composer, I am eager to collaborate with filmmakers seeking a distinct, culturally infused musical voice. My goal is to bring a fresh perspective to film scores, creating soundscapes that transcend cultural boundaries, enrich the narrative journey, and serve the directors' artistic visions.
