Jack Ledger-Dowse is a composer based in London who writes film music and concert music. Jack has scored a wide variety of projects, including Past Life Whispers and A Candle by Christ Heart, the latter of which won 'Best Super Short Film' at SWIFF USA. He scored Hardik Parikh’s The Club of Gods, which won ‘Best Asian Film’ at the Milano Indie Move Awards. He has also scored animations such as Celestia (2023 - Christoph Diekneite), documentaries such as Memories of a Past Life (2024 – Laura Martin) and advertisements for brands such as Namsû. As co-president of the Royal College of Music Film Scoring Society, Jack interviewed Lord of The Rings composer Howard Shore and has organised sessions with many Hollywood composers such as Mychael Danna, Pinar Toprak and James Newton Howard. He also is a diligent and creative orchestrator and loves spending time in the booth running recording sessions. In 2024, Jack was commissioned by the Speaker of the UK Parliament House of Commons to write music in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Commonwealth. He conducted two performances of his Anthem in the UK parliament. Later that year, Ascension won second prize in the European Brass Band Association Composition Competition and received its premier by the world-class Cory Band in Palanga, Lithuania in May 2024. In 2023, Prince Consort Calling won the Royal College of Music’s graduation fanfare competition and was featured in three ceremonies. Jack’s choral work Ave Maria was workshopped by the world-renowned VOCES8 and performed in 2023 by the VOCES8 scholars. His pieces have also been featured in the Royal Overseas League, Lewes Music Festival, the Barbican Centre, Cuckfield Music Festival and various RCM chamber music series, showcases and concerts. He also arranges music for US-based Matonizz and Fennell Production. Jack studied composition and composition for screen at Royal College of Music, London with a Humphrey Searle scholarship, graduating in 2024 with first class honours. He was also a composer at the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Outside of his musical career, he is an unremarkable chess player, an occasional Minecrafter and an enthusiastic gym goer.
